The Venue Report understands that having tried-and-true travel experiences is just as important as flexing your adventure muscles and experiencing new locales and places to stay. This great big globe has so many unique pockets waiting to welcome you. In this 3rd annual collection, you will discover a designer hostel in the Czech Republic, boutique properties in the countryside, glamping digs and tropical island resorts. Whether you choose to explore an urban city with a group of friends or head to the countryside for a family farmhouse stay, each one of these special places have been built with passion, a story and a lot of thought about what will make you, the traveler, have an experience to remember.

Opened in September of 2017, this luxurious Copenhagen design hotel is located in a historic landmark building that was once home to the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music. Set just beside the Tivoli Gardens, Nobis Hotel features 77 stunning rooms designed in classic Danish style that effortlessly toes the line between both old and new.
The highly anticipated Paris edition of the Hoxton opened in November 2017 and its 18th century digs in the 2nd Arrondissement are every bit as chic as The City of Lights itself.
This Maldives resort opened in 2017 to much acclaim, what with its 25 overwater bungalows and surrounding crystal lagoons. Soneva Jani is home to tons of marine life, beautiful sandy beaches and lush terrain. The hotel is already offering incredible special offers for families, honeymoons and groups.
Located in Czech Republic’s small town of Olomouc, Long Story Short is a hostel like you’ve never seen before. The modern spaces, with both shared and private options for rooms, feature lots of high-contrast, pretty details with greenery and natural textures mixed in. Since opening last summer, this spot has been a hit with the traveling crowd. The price point and selection of shared dorm-style rooms or private suites make this a perfect group getaway, bachelor(ette) party or team meeting destination.
Dubbed a “retro chic tropical retreat,” Lux* Grand Gaube in Mauritius opened in December. Spend your days sipping cocktails under a massive Banyan Tree, eating homemade ice cream and watching movies at their oceanfront pop-up cinema.
You’ll be hard pressed to find a place with as much history as the “new” Graybarns on the Silvermine River. An artist outpost and stagecoach stop in the 17th century, textile factory in the 19th century and prohibition-era speakeasy turned classic country inn, this close-to-NYC Connecticut venue has always been a haven from the city and even played host for Elizabeth Taylor’s honeymoon (well, one of them at least). It also has a barn venue on the property that can host gatherings of up to 100 guests.
Summer of 2017 saw the opening of Chicago’s new Ace Hotel in Fulton Market. The hotel group with a cult following of wanderlusters and style aficionados created yet another great stay with even greater hang out spaces, including a rooftop bar with cozy lounge spaces both indoors and out.
Kelly Wearstler is practically a design goddess in interior realms, so it’s no surprise that San Francisco’s Proper Hotel (which she designed) was a hit from the moment it opened last fall. With 131 rooms in the historic flatiron building, this spot is always abuzz. There are multiple communal spaces, meeting rooms and a collection of event spaces perfect for both black-tie and creative-casual gatherings.
With design nods that harken back to the Dutch Golden Age, the new Kimpton De Witt in Amsterdam opened in May last year. It’s slick, it’s convenient in the city center and it’s bound to become the next cool kid in town. The hotel also boasts multiple event spaces including Penthouse De Witt, a scene-stealing suite that would make a perfect spot to host an intimate gathering, group getaway or meeting space.

Calistoga Motor Lodge is located along Silverado Trail and has so far opened 50 rooms, with a restaurant and bar on the horizon. The motel also has spaces for intimate corporate gatherings, weddings and fun-filled retreats.
New York’s newest Ian Schrager hotel opened last summer. From the floor-to-ceiling windows towering over the Lower East Side, the views are epic, and the approachable luxury concept is palpable throughout the 367-room hotel. You will also find 20,000 sq ft of interior event space and 8,500 sq ft of outdoor venue spaces including an ivy-covered garden. This New York hotel is 2018's perfect place for group getways, bachelore(ette) trips, engagement parties and birthday celebrations for 10-500 guests.
Grab your guys and gals and head to this intimate boutique stay by the beach. New(ish) to the Malibu scene, this gorgeous motel-turned-designer-digs came onto the scene in 2017. The Surfrider Malibu is a nod to classic California coast style with lots of linens, whites and natural woods. Oh, and there’s a cozy roof deck restaurant too. This modern California Beach House is the ultimate group getaway destination.
The new Bulgari Resort in Dubai just opened this past December and is a stand-out with the ultra-luxury seeking crowd. Hang out at the Bulgari Yacht Club by day and spend your nights in the Bulgari Villa with its private pool, home cinema, and indoor Jacuzzi and hammam.
DTLA is getting a plus design hotel, that just opened at the top of 2018. With Italianate architecture inspiration, Parisian art and Persian floor coverings, it’s easy to see how this luxury hotel gathered its moniker. Keep an eye out for NoMad LA.
Surrounded by vineyards and overlooking the coast, Principe di Salina is one of the most blissful retreats that opened in 2017. Located on Salina Island (part of Italy’s Aeolian Islands), a stay at this Mediterranean treasure offers the ultimate in seclusion and tranquility as well as being the ideal setting for relaxed group vacations, business retreats and social gatherings with it's manicured grounds, libraries, terraces and onsite restaurant “della casa” that will cater your gathering.
California motels of yesteryear are starting to make a serious comeback, and this San Diego surf spot is a prime example. Opened in early 2017, Surfhouse has eight rooms that are just blocks from the reknowned surf spot, Beacons Beach. Set on the historic highway 101, Surfhouse offers bicycles, surf lessons and more, making it the ultimate place to vacation in southern California with your friends, your team or your family.
Detroit will soon have a new design hotel in town, The Siren Hotel, set to open in the Wurlitzer Building any day now. Already in the works are a coffee bar, a candy bar cocktail lounge, an 8-seat restaurant with James Beard nominee Chef Garrett Lipar at the helm, and a flower studio. A barbershop, greasy spoon eatery, rooftop bar, karaoke piano bar, and retail shop are all purportedly also in the works.

The Williamsburg Hotel was designed as much for the neighborhood as it was for their guests, with a whole slew of locals contributing to the details, from the decor to the food and even the staff’s uniforms. This new Flatiron hotel offers every style of temp-living from bunk rooms to suites that are bigger than most NYC studio apartments. Freehand’s hotel rooms, all-day café, and cocktail bar just opened up this month and the stand-alone restaurant is soon to follow.
A favorite surf spot of the Mexico traveling crowd, Zihautanejo is one of the most charming towns you could possibly end up in. Opened in early 2017, La Casa offers a sweet oasis of 7 bedrooms and just as many baths, making it the ultimate go-to for a surf trip with your crew.
As of fall 2017, no longer are Los Angeles rooftop pools and bars reserved for the elite. The Freehand sells itself as a cool hostel with affordable rates that make staycations as reasonable as ever.
This secret 15-room jungle hotel in Tulum City opened last year. Hotel Tiki Tiki has a kind of cool, Miami Beach style with mid-century vibes throughout. It’s easy, it’s affordable and it’s a different way to experience the authentic culture of Tulum.
Fiji’s Kokomo Private Island Resort is just as lovely and secluded as it sounds. This slice of paradise opened last spring and each luxurious room comes with its very own infinity pool.

Enter the world of 1930s glamour at London’s the Ned. Opened in mid-2017, this historic property showcases the best of British design throughout its 249 bedrooms, nine restaurants, six event spaces, and luxurious spa.
Four properties have converged into one at this Lake Lucerne super-property that recently opened in the Alpine foothills. The show-stealer is the 100,000 square foot spa surrounded by glass walls and tons of local stone work.

South Beach is soon to be home to an updated Park Central Hotel, now known as The Celino South Beach. Set to open early this year, the new luxury boutique hotel will feature 132 plush rooms overlooking Ocean Drive, a glass-bottom rooftop pool as well as a courtyard pool, a rooftop sundeck, three restaurants, and a couple of bars too.
Accepting reservations starting June 1st, the new Nassau Rosewood property is a revamp of just a small chunk of Baha Mar. With 185 suites in the making plus another handful of beachfront villas designed with a traditional British colonial vibe, we’re looking forward to seeing how this place pans out.
Initially opened in 1887, Raffles Hotel Singapore is rich in British Colonial history. The historic hotel has recently taken on a full restoration and renovation, hoping to reopen later this year with new suite categories, dining spaces and a new experiences program to help visitors explore the local region.
Set in the hills of Provence, Villa La Coste opened in mid-2017 and is surrounded by vineyards, gardens and valleys. The bucolic setting provides a stunning backdrop for the luxury resort’s 28 suites, two beautiful restaurants and grandiose spa.
Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya opened just last year and is nestled on the Caribbean Ocean north of Playa del Carmen. Besides being located in literal paradise, the resort was designed with a modern aesthetic and has two pools, breezy guest rooms and 100 feet of white sand beach.
Located in the heart of Helsinki, just beside the Old Church Park, Hotel St. George is set to open this spring. Private balconies, beautifully crafted furniture and a glassed-in courtyard garden are just a few of the highlights you’ll find within this historic structure.
While the original Surf Club opened back on NYE of 1930, the most recent reiteration of the resort opened its doors last spring. Located in Miami’s Surfside, there’s a gorgeous Amalfi Coast inspired restaurant on-site too, dubbed Le Sirenuse.

Overlooking Central Park, this luxury palace will include an epic spa, a piano bar, a cigar bar, a wine library, a jazz club, and (wait for it…) a FIVE-story penthouse.
This Prince Edward hotspot opened last summer and has been calling our attention ever since. The small mid-century style motel offers a great stay for a girls’ trip or food and wine tour of the local region.
Reminiscent of Provence’s Golden Era of Mid-Century design, Hotel Les Roches Rouges will have you swept away in a sanctuary of 1950s Mediterranean bliss. This beauty opened in the summer of 2017.
Choose from a contemporary woodland stay or antique villa at Shanghai’s newest Aman Resort. Amanyangyun opened in mid-January and tows the line between stately old world Chinese design and contemporary lines, all surrounded by imported forestry and a bit of much-needed serenity in the city.
Hotel de Crillon opened its doors in July of last year, revealing the rebirth of a Parisian icon. A Rosewood Hotel, luxury is undoubtedly the name of the game, as evidenced in every design decision from the Karl Lagerfeld-designed Grands Appartements to the elegant lounge areas and courtyard restaurant.
Bishop’s Lodge is celebrating a century-long legacy with a bit of a revamp. The Auberge Resort will be reopening in autumn of 2018 and features luxe glamping tents alongside three to four-bedroom residences.

Shropshire countryside’s Hawkstone Hall dates all the way back to 1700 and has recently begun an extensive restoration and refurbishment process. The main hall and a dozen luxurious suites should be ready for booking by this summer, while another 28-room wing will open in 2019.
Blending both Lao and French culture and architecture, the new Rosewood Luang Prabang sits in the jungle above the historic royal settlement of the Luang Prabang River. With 23 luxury villas and safari style tent digs, this is one to look out for in early 2018.
New York’s NoMad neighborhood has recently become a hotbed of luxury hotel beds. MADE Hotel entered into the fold late last year with its 108 beautifully designed rooms that overlook the NYC skyline.
Architecture, wellness and a blending of Ancient Greek and Chinese philosophies and medicine are the core concepts at this epic destination spa in Greece. Nestled in the Unesco World Heritage site of Mystras at the foot of Mount Taygetos of Peloponnese, Euphoria Retreat opens in May.
Get a taste of the exclusive life at Four Seasons Hotel Megeve, the only hotel directly on the Mont d’Arbois slopes. The first Four Seasons to come to the mountains of Europe, this hotel is contemporary and elegant with 55 rooms, 14 suites and a two Michelin starred restaurant.

Set just along LA’s famed Sunset Strip, The Jeremy Hotel opened in late summer of 2017. The West Hollywood hotel has one of the best rooftop pool decks in town.

Opened in early 2017, Las Alcobas feels at once completely secluded and also convenient to all the perks of being in Napa Valley’s quaint St. Helena. Head to this hotel when you’re ready to unwind and enjoy a beautiful spa, a cozy suite and all the winery visits you can handle.
The hottest destination for bourbon tasting and horse racing, Lexington is getting a new hotel next winter. The Origin Hotel includes 120 rooms with loft-style décor and cool-kid, urban vibes.

We love Grand Canyon in all its sun-struck red-rock glory, so this opening has us really excited for 2019 (yep, we’re getting ahead of ourselves, but still stoked!). Under Canvas will be a collection of cabin-style safari tents and tipis set on 56 acres of forest at the base of Bill Williams Mountain.
Lido House, set to open in March, brings Cape Cod style architecture to Orange County with this 130-room luxury resort. If you’re looking for a hotel with a beach house vibe, look no further.
Dating back to 1889, Hotel Eden has long been a fixture for Rome’s traveling set. Back in April last year, the iconic hotel reopened following an extensive restoration. It’s elegance and style as only the Italians can do.
Recently reopened, 268-room Hotel Figueroa has been a staple of the DTLA hotel scene since 1926. The historic setting has been modernized and refreshed, with gorgeous gathering spaces and a beautiful pool deck bringing a Spanish Colonial feel to the forefront.

Leave it to The LINE to open up a hotspot design hotel in the buzziest part of DC. Adams Morgan is the only 24-hour neighborhood in town and it’s now home to 220 guest rooms set inside a 110-year-old (former) church.
Poolside cabanas and lawn games set the scene for this new Palm Desert boutique hotel by Autograph Collection. Scheduled to open in February, Hotel Paseo’s accommodation options will include nine suites and an Airstream trailer.
Opened in August of 2017, this Hudson Valley Collective Retreats is luxury camping at its finest. Located on a working organic farm in upstate NY, the collection of canvas tents are filled with stylish furnishings but it’s the outdoor experience that’ll really get you feeling reconnected with nature.
62 sun-filled rooms await in the Palm Springs Infusion Beach Club. With a scheduled opening of winter 2018, this boutique hotel will feature a pool terrace and a tapas bar.
With fifty years of history as a luxury hotel, the Royal Lancaster has undergone a refresh of its 411 rooms and handful of meeting and dining spaces. The reopening has been much buzzed about, as the updates are a beautiful, modernised take on classic London design.
Situated on 3 hectares of beachfront, L’Sirene Boutique Resort in the Philippines is bringing nautical, beach bungalow style to Barangay Reserva. Take to the swinging cabanas, lap pool and, of course, beach for the tropical experience of a lifetime.
