Pros (+) Encinitas with its artistic flavor and surfer atmosphere, close to the beach is an attractive place to be. Surfhouse room is well equipped with cool decoration and details. Having the choice to pick a room with four single beds in one room is rare and for the kids of a family (or friends) certainly a plus. A parking spot in front of the room is great. Cons (-) 2 major things: 1.) not having a front desk / someone to talk to gives this accommodation an anonymous touch. Being able to write an email or make a phone call is not equivalent to walk up to a desk and talk to someone. I understand, that this is probably a cost factor (given the size of the accommodation), but would still recommend to have at least for a few hours a day someone present to talk to...

Pros (+) The room set up was good.
Cons (-) It was right next to train that ran till 1:30am and it would honk each time it passed since the hotel was next to crossing. We slept horribly. Even with ear plugs and white noise machine.
