Over the years, Coachella has evolved into a massive, gigantic attraction and thus devoured a lot of festival attention. It’s become the music festival in many ways, and while it’s a supremely fun time, we shouldn’t forget about the very many other music festivals we can hit throughout the year.
Even better, by deciding to spend Coachella money on other festivals, it means exciting new cities to explore and cool new hotels to call home for a weekend. So break out of the annual Coachella routine and head for these awesome music festivals and hotels instead!

With a focus on and love for EDM, this season’s festival features Flume, Lane 8, Giraffage, Cut Snake, and Amtrac. There’s going to be a whole lot of dancing. Save the dates for March 4-5 at at Waterfront Park.
Vintage and modern styles get together at this mid-century-styled boutique hotel. Near the lively downtown scene, this cozy, retro gem has cocktail service and a "dive-in theatre at the pool. After taking in music and crowds, a breezy night and a semi-private cabana might be just what you need.

Founded by Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell, Lollapalooza has branched off internationally, now hosted in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, France, and Germany. But the main festival, main descendant of the original, can be found in the Windy City. Last year's headliners included Lana Del Rey, J. Opened as a grand athletic club in the 1890s, this downtown gem has been restored, renovated and reborn. It’s kept the historic architectural details and picturesque offerings in tact, from the grand marble staircases to the extraordinary views of Millennium Park.
