Ever dreamed of posting up in a divinely pinky-peach palace where the walls are adorned in either opulent wallpapers or meticulously hand-painted splendor? If that kind of thing is up your alley, the Suján Rajmahal Palace in Jaipur, India will have you in a tizzy for your next birthday getaway dream-come-true. Apart from boasting a dining room with 51 shades of pink—only appropriate for being located in what’s known as the “Pink City”—this color-rich palace has a bewitching history of royals, dignitaries and celebrities reveling in its grandeur. Nowadays it’s a posh hideaway in the heart of the city for the chicest of traveling groups who like to sleep in luxurious Indian-silk style. This supremely considered garden palace is somehow decadent and light-hearted at the same time—perfect for the discerning but down-to-earth adventurers who enjoy a bit of playfulness at every turn. For your next birthday extravaganza, party it up palace style.

A Pleasure Garden Palace
Restored from what was once conceived of as a private pleasure garden retreat for His Highness’ wife (no sooner than 250 years ago), the palace has been lovingly updated to reflect all the charms and luxuries of contemporary life—while still maintaining its regal character. Though it was once a home, the many halls, rooms, dining spaces and bars have been converted to now serve the varied needs of guests from near and far. From the sprawling manicured lawns and gardens, to teatime terraces and the cool blue of the art deco swimming pool, you’re certain to get a little heady with the sheer beauty of the place.
Rooms Fit for a Queen
The 14 luxury apartments, suites and rooms at the palace are truly something to write home about. The Maharaja’s Apartment definitely lives up to its palatial status with a footprint of over 3,000 square feet (!) and both a complimentary chauffeur and butler during your stay. On the slightly more modest side are the celebrity-coined royal suites—our favorite is the aquamarine-hued Kennedy Suite, named for Jackie Kennedy’s three-month visit in 1962—which are all still well over 1,000 square feet for ample space during your stay. Lastly, the palace suites and palace rooms are best suited for those with less royalty-sized needs, although two of the suites do happen to be named for polo-loving Prince Charles and Princess Diana. In any case, you clearly can’t go wrong with these sumptuous spaces, where each room is entirely unique with custom-designed wallpaper and fabrics—many of which visually tell the fantastic tales of Jaipur’s storied past.
Jaipur Excursions
Although you may find it difficult to venture beyond the walls of this vibrantly intoxicating palace, Jaipur has much to offer in the way of equally magical experiences. Suján will graciously organize many tailor-made excursions for during your stay that can be booked even before you set foot in India. Ranging from walking market tours, to culinary outings, visiting historical sites with all the insider know-how, to photographic walks throughout the city, your group be well set-up during your Indian adventures.
Get Married in Palatial Style
Looking for an extremely epic place to host your birthday bash or even your wedding? The Suján Rajmahal can help you with that. The palace can be booked-out whether it’s a private event, raucous (or civilized) party, extended stay with family and friends or your weeklong wedding celebration.
