Forget the Forest, This Floating Cabin Is Going to Top Your Birthday Wish List

While the northern hemisphere is transitioning into fall and winter by embracing the harvest, sporting their coziest sweaters, and booking cabin getaways amidst the foliage and snow, the southern hemisphere is gearing up for the warmer days of spring, but with a plot twist: they’re also booking cabin getaways, but of a different variety.

Lilypad Palm Beach, about an hour north of Sydney, is a floating villa-meets-cabin that’s Scandinavian inspired and bringing the cozy vibes year-round. The two-story, one-bedroom, wine cellar outfitted floating vessel aligns more with a luxurious B&B than a boat, with a permanent location in a protected marina away from the waves and winds.

Whether you’re envisioning a nautical soiree for sixteen or a romantic getaway for two (or both) for your next birthday bash, Lilypad is up for the task – no boating experience required. Spend your days lounging on the deck with a glass of something chilled, go for a dip whenever you see fit and snuggle up around the fire as the sun goes down. After all, you are the captain now.

The Floating Cabin

Aptly named for the structure’s still nature similar to an actual lilypad, stays here are nothing short of calming where you’ll sleep and wake with the sounds of the ocean. The 100% solar powered property is encased in light wood and black trim, giving it that signature Scandinavian look complete with a wraparound deck overlooking just a few neighboring boats and the rolling hills of the nearby shore – a private retreat to say the least.

Inside, find a bedroom overlooking the living space, all decked out in whites, tans, and natural materials, creating a textured and serene environment. Lilypad is a year-round retreat where you can Netflix and chill on brisk days, or open up the living area to create an indoor-outdoor space on bright and beautiful days.

On & Off Board Amenities

What’s a luxurious getaway without amenities? Lilypad has that covered, and properly: their partnership with Moet Hennessy makes sure that the Veuve never runs out and the open wine cellar is stocked at all times. Meals here range from deckside BBQing to poke bowls using freshly caught fish or take it to the shore for dinner in Palm Beach. Book a massage or beauty treatment onboard, or go for a drive in Lilypad’s inflatable boat (no special license required) in search of private beaches perfect for sunset picnics. Finally, take it up a notch with activities like snorkeling or stand-up paddleboarding to get your fill of action.

Sea Celebrations

So you’re celebrating your birthday onboard, maybe with your S.O. or sixteen of your nearest and dearest – know that Lilypad’s team has your party sorted from drinks (remember that Moet Hennessy partnership?) to multicourse meals.

Planning a holiday party, a wedding (including the honeymoon), or a “just because” event? Let Lilypad provide the venue, views, Veuve, and, most importantly, vibes. Their event packages have every detail mapped out so you’re party-ready at the drop of a captain’s hat.
