Venue Setting

Voewood is a spectular historic home built in 1905 in an inimitable Arts & Crafts style. The structure of the house follows the shape of a butterfly, with each room capturing the maximum amount of sunlight throughout the day. The house is nestled amongst 11 acres of formal sunken gardens and woodland, yet is only a few minutes from the fashionable town of Holt and the incredible North Norfolk coastline with its vast skies and endless beaches.

The building has been painstakingly renovated over the last 17 years, with each room re-imagined by artists and designers and crammed full of amazing art, textiles, furniture and eccentric objects.

Inside Scoop

The dog painting by the door of the Green Room? Yep, it's by Annie Lennox. And the black & white polaroid in the Master Bedroom? A gift to Voewood's owner from Patti Smith.

Venue Features
The scene:
Voewood is approached along a long, tree lined drive which opens up onto a formal turning circle flanked by the towering and intricate front of the house. Topped by numerous twisting chimneys this facade of the building gives the impression of a narrow building over two floors, yet follow the steps up into the corner of the garden and you realise what a deceptive structure Voewood really is. From this viewpoint the house seems to have been almost split open into the shape of a butterfly, each wing reaching out into the sunken gardens, ufurling and transforming into terraces, pathways and arched loggia.

Entering the house for the first time feels like stepping back in time, yet as you climb the steps into the hall it becomes clear that this is no ordinary historic building. From the tribal vibes of The Music Room to the cast medieval Main Hall, every wall speaks of a different genre of art, pop culture, music and design. From David Bowie to Gerald Brockhurst, anything goes in this incredibly eccentric style of interior design.
Design:
Voewood combines original century old Arts & Crafts architecture with artist-commisioned mosaics, wall paintings and textiles. Add to this a layer of unbelievable pop art, Victorian prints, retro objects and rock 'n' roll memorabilia and you have the most unique wedding and party venue imaginable!
Standout venue features:
Staying at Voewood is an experience like no other with an amazing friendly atmpshere that makes you feel as if the owner has literally just nipped out for the weekend and you have snuck in behind him!
Extra perks:
We are totally black and white here and to match our laid back attitude to life we have absolutely no hidden or sneaky charges whatsoever. There is no corkage fee, no extra charge for a ceremony and no cost for the accommodation. When you hire the house we mean that you literally get the whole house, exclusively.
