Irish people tend to be drawn to finding the nearest beer garden during the summer and Dunmore East’s The Strand Inn is as scenic a beer garden as anywhere else in Ireland. Located about a five-minute walk down the hill from the main village, The Strand Inn boasts a large outdoor seating area where visitors can enjoy a drink while watching the waves coming and going in the sea. The Restaurant at The Strand Inn is a stunning dining room specialising in fresh seafood and local produce with an enviable reputation both locally and nationally.

The restaurant uses local ingredients as the basis for their menus and specialise in locally reared beef and the freshest of locally caught seafood. Absolute must-try dishes are the Duncannon Mussels in a creamy black bean sauce and the famous Strand seafood pie.

The Strand Inn bar is frequented by locals and visitors alike. In fact, it could be described as five bars in one. The pub attracts a young, cool crowd, due to the pool tables and the adventurous music policy. Then there's a lounge with its distinctive art and a pianist who plays everything from Burt Baccarat to Elvis. Then you have the constellation bar which plays host to an eclectic mix of traditional Irish musicians.
