Venue Setting

SKY Armory offers three floors of urban, chic loft-style event space located in historic Armory Square in the heart of downtown Syracuse. We designed our space to be a blank canvas with the primary intention of offering endless possibilites to create an experience that fully reflects our clients' style and personality. SKY Armory is in the historic Betts Building, which formerly housed the Wells & Coverly men's department store which was beloved by the community for their exceptional customer service. We strive to maintain the same level of attention and care for our clients and guests.

Located in the heart of the dynamic Armory Square neighborhood, SKY offers incredible city views especially when a blazing sunset or a peaceful snowfall are viewed from our glass atrium or the top of the adjacent parking garage (these two areas especially make great photo ops for bridal couples and parties).

The level of customization at SKY Armory is unmatched in the area and we've experienced clients who have no connection to the area coming to SKY simply because of the venue itself. We pride ourselves on being a little out of the box, whether it's creating breathtaking decor or surprising guests with a unique menu or rare wine not easily found in stores. Even our bathrooms show the special attention to detail SKY is known for. 

We also create our own events open to the public and welcome everyone to party in the SKY. Many of our events are food- and drink-focused, such as our pop-up dining, but we also create seasonal parties such as our St. Patrick's Parade Party. Our website or social media channels will always have information about these public events.

The Scene:
Imagine...glittering city lights and showstopping architecture, that features a mix of metropolitan sophistication and a bait of edge. A location that is tucked away like a beautiful secret amid the dynamic downtown energy. As you enter the alley, you are greeted by the sounds of a street musician. Translucent doors swing open, and doormen usher you into the soaring glass-walled grand entrance and greet you with a glass of bubbly. An elevator operator takes you to the designated floor, where you are met by greeters who welcome and unwrap you, checking coats and sweeping you toward the main event.

Doors open. You stop. Your breath catches, and your heart beats faster. This is the moment when you are truly blown away by everything that is SKY Armory.

Design:
The original building SKY is housed in, the Betts, was built around 1878 and is part of the South Salina Street Downtown Historic District. To create a connection with the vibrant Armory Square neighborhood, a modern glass atrium was added to the Clinton Street side of the building for the 2014 opening of SKY Armory. Inside the loft-style ballrooms, original brick walls and exposed wood and metal beams and rafters are present. The atrium staircase features reclaimed wood. The portable bars on both the second and third floors were handcrafted by a local woodworker.

SKY Armory is owned and managed by event planners whose passion is creating the perfect celebration. SKY was designed to be a blank canvas where we can capture any look or theme you envision. Our team includes full-service planners, in-house culinary team and bartenders, and floral and decor specialists. SKY offers complete customization from layouts and decor elements to your menu and bar selections. While we can share sample menus and layouts, we work closely with you to customize all the details of your event to your style, personality, and the feel you are hoping to achieve.

The following amenities are included with the room rental fee:

-An event planner who will plan your event with you
-Up to 6 hours use of the rented space, and your event will be the only event in that room that day.
-An event management team and event staff on the day of your event.
-Tasting Event for up to 6 people
-Tables: cafe, hiboy, and guest tables (48" seating 6 guests; 60" seating 8 guests; 72" seating 10 guests; banquets seating 12-24 guests)
-Tables dressed in floor-length poly linens in your choice of color (over 40 colors to choose from) with matching or complementing poly napkins

The Betts, located on the first floor is perfect for wedding ceremonies, cocktail parties, and intimate dinner parties. Wood floors, a tray ceiling, and textured walls create a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

SKY Armory has an in-house culinary team. Each of our chefs comes from the restaurant side of food service and has experience as an executive chef, so they are well-versed in a wide range of cooking techniques and cultural styles. We are proud to say that everything served at SKY is made from-scratch in our kitchen  with fresh, in-season, natural ingredients – that means no processed foods or preservatives. 

Just imagine what this this talented group of chefs can create for your event. They will customize a menu and an amazing culinary experience for you and your guests, whether it’s a breakfast meeting for 40 or a plated dinner for 400.

 
Bars & Lounges:

It’s 5:00 somewhere… at SKY we believe a great glass of wine, a tasty craft beer, or a well-made cocktail being enjoyed by a guest adds life to the party. 

Our approach to the bar is that of a restaurant where we offer a variety of different bottle and draft beers, wines, spirits, and infused waters and soft drinks. Just like our food, we start with the freshest ingredients and make our own purees, simple syrup, and infusions. We like to feature signature cocktails created specially for the newlyweds for the evening. Not sure what your favorite is? Our Mixologist will craft options that will be sure to delight even the most fickle of palates.

Here's a summery cocktail our bartenders created for a recent wedding: 

Blueberry Lemonade Mojito

Muddle: 
2 lemon slices
1 lime slice
6 blueberries
3 mint leaves
with 1 oz of simple syrup

Add ice and 1.25 oz of Bicardi Limon
Shake and fill with 1/2 Sprite and 1/2 freshly-made lemonade
