- With the Pacific coast on the doorstep you can stroll along the beach for hours, surfcast, swim in the lagoon, and, when in season, go whitebaiting at the Awatere River mouth, just a short walk away. For surfers, there is a renowned right hand point surf break - you can check the swell from your bedroom. Hector's Dolphins often play at the river mouth, and whales can be seen offshore.
