Magnolia Plantation offers 4 exceptional event locations: The Carriage House, Conservatory, Veranda or Pavilion all wrapped in the history and breathtaking beauty of one of the South’s most famous plantations. With spectacular views of the Ashley River, the historic Carriage House (c. 1840) is surrounded by ancient Live Oaks, sweeping lawns, and beautiful torches that line the river bank. Today the updated building is both timeless and modern. Right in the heart of the Garden, the Plantation House Veranda is a truly historic and elegant venue that offers expansive views of our Live Oaks, manicured gardens and our open pasture. This location is quintessentially Charleston with its wraparound porch, outdoor ceiling fans, plantation shutters, and a 360 degree view of the surrounding gardens. The Conservatory, home to exotic tropical flora, is a unique and intimate indoor space with an outdoor deck overlooking our grand cypress trees, Schoolhouse Pond and its famous Red Bridge. Magnolia Plantation also offers several beautifully landscaped lawns available for outdoor events, concerts, farmers markets and more! Providing an incomparable backdrop of year-round blooms throughout the historic gardens and plantation grounds, Magnolia Plantation is sure to make your big day an unforgettable one. The Scene:
Magnolia Plantation sits on 66 acres of gardens and 500 acres of property along the Ashley River. Sweeping lawns, Live Oak trees draped in Spanish moss, and intimate garden pathways invite you into the very last romantic garden in America! Our most popular venue, the Carriage House, is the original carriage house from 1840 and boasts the oldest oak tree on our property which is over 400 years old. Our Plantation House Veranda features one of the most popular picture taking locations in the Charleston area, our famous long white bridge. Wander into the bamboo forest and enter a whole new whimsical land with a fabulous photo-op at every turn.
Standout Venue Features:
All guests attending an event at the plantation are provided with free general admission to the grounds and gardens the weekend of the event All couples hosting their wedding or rehearsal dinner at the plantation are given 2 free photo sessions on our property with their chosen photographer (i.e. engagement photos, bridal portraits, post-wedding pictures, etc.) - a typical photo session is $150 for those not hosting their wedding at Magnolia.
Extra Perks:
The Conservatory includes 75 teak reception tables and 13 teak reception chairs. The Carriage House includes a separate bridal suite for dressing, an outdoor fire pit, gas torches that line the river and the outdoor patio, and large uplights on the surrounding oak trees. The Veranda includes a wicker furniture set (2 chairs, 2 side tables, and a settee), several black benches, and two long wooden benches
Awards & Notables Magnolia Plantation has been chosen as The Knot's "Best of Weddings" for the last 4 years and is featured monthly on every local wedding blog (including The Charleston Wedding Magazine, Borrowed and Blue, The Lovely Find, A Lowcountry Wedding, Project Weddings, etc.). Two of our events were recently featured in Southern Wedding Magazine's 2014 Summer/Fall edition and were selected as the location for a 24 page spread in Charleston Style and Design's Summer 2014 edition. Magnolia has also been a part of multiple finale episodes of Four Weddings as well as an addition of Ghost Hunters. We are also considered one of the most popular plantations in the south!

This venue is located right in the heart of the Garden and is a truly historic and elegant venue that offers expansive views of our Live Oaks, manicured gardens and our open pasture. This location is quintessentially Charleston with its wraparound porch, outdoor ceiling fans, and plantation shutters
- View: 360 degree views of the surrounding land. Everything from an open pasture with miniature ponies, garden views, the Ashley River, and our butterfly garden can be seen from the Veranda.
- Max Capacity: 150 seated inside with dancing, 200 seated inside without dancing, tons of lawn space so we have hosted groups of 500 people using both the Veranda and the lawn space

The Conservatory:
Home to exotic tropical flora, the Conservatory is a unique and intimate indoor space with an outdoor deck overlooking our grand cypress trees, Schoolhouse Pond and its famous Red Bridge.
- View: Lush garden of tropical plants inside, swamp/pond and red bridge views outside
- Max Capacity: For a wedding: 60 people seated inside with food set up, 75 people seated with no food set up. Dancing and bar outside on the patio. For a rehearsal dinner: 90 seated inside and outside with food set up. For a corporate or social gathering with standin
