- The Scene:
- Our museum sits regally atop one of California's most historic sites surrounded by an intentionally landscaped park. From its prominent position, the Junipero Serra Museum overlooks San Diego’s celebrated Old Town and boasts spectacular city and ocean views. The museum has the advantage of amazing views and privacy as its immediate vicinity is surprisingly secluded.
Each season offers unique benefits. Vibrant colors spread across the rolling hills of the park as spring flowers bloom. During the summer, a nightly firework show blasts just a few miles away and there is no better place in the city to view the fireworks than from our terrace where the lights reflect off the bay and the ocean. Fall sees multitudes of monarch butterflies fluttering around the park as they journey south for the winter. San Diego’s fair weather means that an outdoor reception in winter is completely possible. Surround yourself in the park’s towering pines for a delightfully winter-themed wedding. - Design:
- Built in 1929, the Junipero Serra Museum reflects the mission-revival architectural style characteristic of Southern California. The white color of the museum stunningly stands out from blue skies and emerald green grass. The original wooden ceiling both inside and outside, contrasts beautifully with the white walls and the classic red-orange tiled floor. This building was meant to be photographed!
- Museum Interior:
- Most commonly used as the ceremony space, this grand room is an intimate setting to tie the knot in!
- - View: The simple beauty of the museum offers the opportunity for couples to decorate the space unique to them. The high ceilings and natural wooden beams are reminiscent of an old chapel.
- - Max Capacity: 140
- Outside Terrace and Loggia:
- The wrap-around terrace is perfect for cocktail hour and reception. If a couple's guest count is small enough, we can accommodate a ceremony outside as well.
- - View: The terrace overlooks stunning views of the city and the beach. At night, the twinkling lights sets the mood for a delightful evening.
- - Max Capacity: 140
