- The Scene:
- Located in the forever hip Little Italy section of San Diego, if you’re looking for somewhere to see and be seen these days, Ironside Fish & Oyster is a safe bet. Generating a constant buzz even before opening, the stunning statement space is packed with provocative design elements and progressive architectural details. Ripping a page from Puget Sound, two-starred Michelin chef Jason McLeod is running a raw bar focused restaurant comprised of three "culinary hubs" - expect rocking oyster platters, ceviche, lobsters, mind bending cocktails and of course, a packed house full of scenesters.
- Design:
- Eye-catching design is everywhere at CH Projects' reimagined 1920s-era warehouse, where Jules Verne (20,000 Leagues Under The Sea) himself wouldn't look out of place enjoying a fortified cocktail at the lavish, custom-fabricated bar. The nautical-themed work of art is thoroughly backed up by clever wordplay on the “A Rising Tide Lifts All Boats” signage, which stands watch over the exterior. The front facade dawns magnificent flip doors and windows edged in brass, which can be lifted to create an open-concept dining space facing the bustling street scene outside. Tucked into every corner of the restaurant, diners are encouraged to discover conversation-starting design accents such as a marquee "SHIT HAPPENS" lighting installation near the bathrooms, golden mermaids statues and a massive wall adorned with hundreds of faux piranha skulls.
- Food, Restaurants, Cafes:
- Executive chef Jason McLeod's seafood-centric plates, from fried oyster sliders to lobster rolls and seafood platters, are served daily for lunch and dinner. Our $1 oyster happy hour runs Monday to Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. The raw bar stays humming until midnight throughout the week, while on Fridays and Saturdays, both the raw bar and the cocktail bar stay open until 2 a.m.
- Bars & Lounges:
- Our 14-foot, custom-fabricated bar displays shelf after shelf of liquor bottles all the way up to the ceiling, housing more than 90 fortified wines, 16 beers, eight wines and a draft cocktail. Thanks to our collaboration with local favorite, Coffee & Tea Collective f you need a buzz of the caffeinated variety, we also have iced coffee on tap.
