The scene:

Design:
Four unique ecologies, two kilometers of absolute beach frontage, thirteen acres of critically endangered littoral rainforest, tea tree creek, lake, ponds and plethora of rare and endangered fauna.

"We wanted to make the buildings a landscape element. They heighten your appreciation of the landscape in a number of ways. They are responsive to the organic forms of the beach. There are echoes of everything from a piece of smoothly polished driftwood to shell forms to indigenous village arrangements. “There is a sense of protection when you are within the central leisure precinct in the way the buildings are planned. They turn you toward the ocean and when you are in there that’s your whole world. It’s a community space owned by everyone and not by anyone.
