- The Scene:
- District Winery is fully-functioning boutique commercial winery located in The Yards, a growing community along the Anacostia River. Our property also houses a tasting bar, a full-service onsite seasonal American restaurant and over 7,500 sq. ft. of private event space.
Now offering full-service small and alternative winery wedding celebrations for up to 50 guests!
An intimate gathering that still includes all the elements of a traditional wedding like ceremony, cocktails, and dinner—this small scale celebration is just as special and memorable as a larger bash.
Weekday and limited weekend dates in 2020 are still available for small weddings and events; only 2020 dates are being scheduled at this time. - Design:
- District Winery’s 17,000 square foot interior draws inspiration from wood-framed building archetypes often found in traditional wineries. The juxtaposition of warm and cool finishes, infused with mid-century modern accents, is seen throughout each level of the venue. Southern yellow pine lumber, rich walnut paneling and brass detailing counterbalance cool concrete and steel structural elements. Composed in a rhythmic gesture, the lumber beams serve as an internal framework with glass partitions that break down and distinguish the various spaces within District Winery.
- Standout Venue Features:
- The ground level hosts Ana, District Winery’s full-service restaurant, a commercial wine production facility with state-of-the-art winemaking equipment, and a tasting bar offering wine flights as well as bottles to go. Two 20-foot-tall glass-enclosed and temperature-controlled wine bottle storage rooms flank the main staircase that leads to the mezzanine level, which serves as a semi-private gathering space overlooking both the winery and restaurant.
The second floor operates as a wedding and private events space complete with an expansive, wraparound terrace accented by a green roof and a canopy for multi-season use. District Winery's private event space includes an expansive outdoor terrace overlooking the Anacostia River that is fully equipped with a retractable canopy for multi-season use. Dedicated entirely to private events such as weddings, holiday parties, all-day corporate events, bridal showers and family-style dinners, the second-floor event space is adorned with mid-century modern decor and custom wood finishes. With events being top of mind during the design phase, the second floor also incorporates a dedicated industrial-sized kitchen to exclusively service on-site events. The private event space can accommodate parties with a wide range of guest counts, including seated dinners for up to 200 guests and cocktail parties for up to 450 guests. - Extra Perks:
- All turnkey events at District Winery include use of our custom walnut top tables, chairs, hightop tables, barstools, marble-topped bars, china, glassware, flatware, linen napkins, printed menus, and small tabletop items to enhance your decor.
- Food, Restaurants, Cafes:
Ana, District Winery’s seasonal American restaurant, invites guests to explore an array of dishes influenced by worldwide cuisines. Executive Chef Michael Gordon and Chef de Cuisine Ben Lambert looked to a variety of inspirations when developing Ana’s menu. Ana offers an enticing dining option where guests can enjoy creative, refined cuisine, sip on District Winery wines that highlight the flavor profiles of wine regions across the country, and gaze out at panoramic views of the Anacostia River.
Ana’s wine program is led by McCormack, who has worked with Leventhal and Stires from the inception of Brooklyn Winery. The wine list at Ana showcases the full lineup of District Winery wines as well as an additional selection of exclusive library wines from the Brooklyn location, all crafted by McCormack. The District Winery and Brooklyn Winery labels present wines that are authentic representations of their growing regions and vintages.
