Venue Setting

At Canyon Run Ranch you will find an authentic and rustic American barn in the country for a unique and romantic wedding ceremony and reception. Hidden along the banks of the Stillwater River lies a quiet farm of wooded hillsides where the waters of the Canyon Run cut gently through the land, flowing down small waterfalls and to the Stillwater River. You would never guess when driving down Rangeline Road, just outside of Pleasant Hill, Ohio, that down this gravel lane lie acres of naturally beautiful land and a historic 1850's barn for your special celebration.

In 2012, our daughter and son-in-law announced their engagement and asked us if we would host their wedding reception in one of our barns after a quiet ceremony in the woods. We set about our work soon thereafter and discovered that the barn would need much more work than we had originally thought. We ended up replacing the barn floor with the lumber of seven cottonwood trees from the property and lots of help.

The results were well worth it and our daughter and son-in-law enjoyed an amazing wedding that exceeded their expectations. It is at their urging that we decided to make this barn available to other brides and grooms who desire a casual, fun and whimsical atmosphere to celebrate their special day.

The Scene:
Canyon Run Ranch is emblazoned in gold on a black sign marking the entrance to a secluded, quiet farm nestled in the scenic Stillwater River Valley. The long gravel lane will take you across the one-lane bridge and over the Canyon Run creek. The spiral vegetable garden sprinkled with edible flowers grows between the creek and the lane. The impressive stone home sits on the hill to the right and the 1850's bank barn rests on the hill straight ahead. The attitude here is casual elegance, surrounded by rolling wooded hillsides and the gentle sound of water trickling down the limestone falls and through the Canyon Run offering gorgeous photo opportunities as it meanders through the property with  a series of waterfalls for a spectacular backdrop.

And the barn... Imagine rays of sunlight filtering through cracks of weathered barn board, illuminating the historic structure of an 1850s barn. Warm, rustic wood tones set the stage for your imagination. Restored as a labor of love, the energy here is welcoming and unpretentious.
Design:
Exclusive to the Bride and her attendants, the house at Canyon Run sets the tone for the day. Tidal blue doors greet you as you enter a unique, sunny, and welcoming space to prepare for a memorable day. The bride and her attendants enjoy the use of a stone-walled dressing room with a wooden church pew, daybed and multiple mirrors and a spacious bathroom with plenty of natural light. This sunny space offers views of the lane as well as a view of the path leading up to the woods allowing you to watch in anticipation as your guests walk up to the ceremony site.

The groomsmen have their own space, the former stalls in the lower level of the bank barn complete with mirrors, a washroom, and places to hang their clothes. The Groom's Quarters are spacious and cool, offering a fun approach to the preparations for the big day.
Standout Venue Features:
Far from prying eyes, all guests enjoy Ohio at it's best: raw, natural, and serene. With 153 acres, Canyon Run Ranch has it all. To get to the ceremony site in the woods, guests following the lane heading up a hill and take a grass path flanked on both sides with 10 acres of colorful native Ohio wildflowers, home to songbirds, butterflies and wild honeybees. The secluded ceremony site is a clearing in the the woods which grow on a ridge with dramatic drops on either side covered with trillium in the spring. Your guests await on covered straw bales in the cool shade of a  canopy of trees.

For those less able, there is gravel lane allowing cars to drive to the parking area just outside the woods.  There is also a six passenger limo golf cart available for shuttling guests to the ceremony site. Following the ceremony, guests can sit in the cool comfort of the Milk Parlor. The 1850's barn is built from the trees on the property and you can see the bark intact on the floor joists of the Milk Parlor with hand-hewn beams supporting the historic structure.

The reception area is in the upper bank barn and the original barn doors open to a rustic space dressed with large cotton drapes. Upon entering, your eyes are drawn to rtwo large mason jar chandeliers hung from wagon wheels which anchor the rustic space with perfect attitude. Lit from the rafters on down with twinkle lights, the warm tone of the wood allows you to interpret the venue with your personal style, lending itself to anything from casual country to elegant vintage decor any everything in between.

Extra Perks:
New for 2016 is a restroom facility built to mimic the original style of the barn with a whimsical flair. The three individual restrooms are built for comfort with a style designed to make you smile. One of the restrooms is handicapped accessible and all of the restrooms are on the same level as the reception area for easy access. The restrooms are also accessible by the stairway from the Milk Parlor.

Other perks are several small decorative tables for use for desserts or guest books. We have old apple crates that can be used for multiple purposes and are available for your use. We chose the best Chivairi chairs with seat cushions for comfort and style to go around 6' tables.  We have seating for up to 150 people. Our 15' x 15' wood dance floor has enjoyed a consistently high participation rate.

We provide two evaporative cooling units for those warm summer days and four large heaters for the cooler months. Down the hill from the barn your guests can enjoy a large firepit, lit at dusk and surrounded by a low rock wall for seating and serves as the designated smoking area.
