Venue Setting

Brooklyn Art Library's brand new location is unlike any other venue. Home to the largest collection of artist sketchbooks in the world, our walls are lined with white shelves that hold over 35,000 handmade sketchbooks created by artists and designers from around the world. The library is a platform for artists to share their sketchbooks in an innovative and unconventional way, and a community space at the center of the Williamsburg art scene. The rows of shelves provide a distinctive aesthetic and inviting atmosphere perfect for engagement pictures, wedding showers, ceremonies, and receptions. Natural light floods the space, located on a quiet street just blocks from the subway and McCarren Park.

The Scene:

Located on a quiet street in the hip Brooklyn neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn Art Library is home to the largest collection of artist sketchbooks in the world.Towering white shelves line the white walls of the library, holding over 35,000 sketchbooks individually doodled by students, freelance creatives, and professional artists from more than 130 countries. The arrangement of colorful sketchbooks creates a distinctive pattern and artistic aesthetic unique to our venue, serving as an ideal backdrop for parties, weddings, photo/film shoots, corporate retreats, workshops, and more.

Design:

White painted brick, high ceilings, and black exposed beams give the library a hip industrial ambience that pairs well with the warmth and personality of the rows upon rows of sketchbooks. Brooklyn Art Library's storefront is made up entirely of windows, flooding the space with natural light and giving the space a bright and airy feel. Overhead track lighting illuminates the space on cloudy days and evenings, giving the space a moody and gallery-like ambience.

Our library of artist books is truly one-of-a-kind, and is the largest crowd-sourced collection of sketchbooks in the world. We're excited to work with clients to utilize the collection in creative ways for your event, from curated collections to custom displays of artist prints.
Extra Perks:
Brooklyn Art Library has 1200 sq. ft. of usable space, 14 ft. ceilings, and roll-up double door access for load-in. We have an assortment of 40 chairs available, including vintage wooden folding chairs and modern white bucket chairs. Speakers, garment racks, and string lights (hung from tops of shelves) also available for use. Located in the growing and vibrant Brooklyn neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn Art Library is easily accessible via the L train.
