Nestled in a lush 270-acre nature preserve near Jeffersontown, the historic homestead, barn, and gardens of Blackacre offer a slice of country charm. And yet we are just 25 minutes from downtown Louisville!

Historic Double Crib Barn & Grounds

To help create an unforgettable event our 200 year old barn is a wonderful and customizable option for ceremonies, parties and cocktail receptions of up to 60. When used along with the surrounding grounds it is also a fun option for dance floor space and photo booth and bar set-up. Whether open-air or tented, our grounds provide a scenic space for both ceremonies and receptions of up to 300 guest.  

Presley Tyler 1844 Farmhouse

The Tyler house is a popular option for the bridal suite and serves as a stunning backdrop for first-look photos! Its front lawn is a great option for intimate ceremonies of up to 100 guests, while the interior of the home can accommodate up to 50 guests for sit-down parties or up to 75 for cocktail style receptions.

Memorial Pond

The Memorial Pond is a beautiful and classic option for outdoor ceremonies of up to 100 and when paired with the Barn & Grounds flows seamlessly from the Ceremony to the Reception. 

Nature Center and Grounds

Our Schick Nature Center is the perfect fit for sit-down parties of up to 40 guests or standing receptions of up to 60. The Nature Center's grounds, surrounded by beautiful trees and pastures, is another great option for gatherings of up to 100 guests.

What's Included: Included in our rate Blackacre offers the event space of your choosing, an on-site venue coordinator, trash bags and cans, our open-vendor policy, free parking and flexible set-up times. Additional items including tents, tables and chairs, port o lets, etc. are the responsibility of the renter.

Venue Features
The Scene:
Blackacre is a State Nature Preserve and Historic Homestead surrounded by nearly three hundred acres filled with rolling fields, forests, and streams. A long driveway leads from Tucker Station Road to the Presley Tyler House, which was built in 1844. The sound of a trickling stream, the Emmy Smith Memorial Pond, greets visitors as they make their way from the parking area to the historic homestead. The historic 1790s Appalachian barn is surrounded by a large barnyard and sits against the backdrop of our west facing pasture which captures the evening sunset. 
Design:
Our nearly two hundred year-old farmhouse, the historic Presley Tyler House, offers guests a view of life in the pre-Civil war era. The giant hand hewn boards which make up our historic double-crib Appalachian log barn are visible, offering guests a glimpse of late 18th century craftsmanship.
Standout Venue Features:
Blackacre is a state nature preserve and historic homestead which offers nearly 300 acres of natural and historic beauty. A photo exhibit adorns the walls of the pre-Civil War farmhouse and documents the lives and labors of previous farmers of the homestead. The 1790s Appalachian style barn also features a display of old farm tools.

The Emmy Smith Memorial Pond area is a large grassy area featuring a memorial pond and swing. Tents are only allowed along the fence line near the pasture.
