This oceanfront venue features lush gardens, picturesque courtyards, and quite a few ghost sightings. Keep an eye out for founding member General Lloyd Aspinwall, who unexpectedly passed in 1886, wandering the riverfront Veranda at dusk and the mysterious “bellman” sporting a 1920s attire delivering freshly pressed suits to bridegrooms (Spoiler alert: The Jekyll Island Club Resort has reported no such employee on their payroll).
You might have heard of Hotel Chelsea through musicians Jimi Hendrix, Patti Smith or Bob Dylan, all Hotel Chelsea frequenters. What you might not have heard is that Hotel Chelsea's reopening will come this 2018 after being closed in 2011. The halls are haunted with celebrity deaths: Dylan Thomas and Sid Vicious' girlfriend Nancy Spungen. In the words of Leonard Cohen, "I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel."
Stay in the middle of Seattle's metropolitan downtown and meet the ghost of Alice B. Toklas, the woman known for creating the pot brownie. After roaming and exploring all of Seattle's culture, roam the halls of Hotel Sorrento with Alice near room 408. You'll be in for a different sort of treat.
Union Station brings much more than just Nashville spirit to its hotel. Known for its history as a railroad station in the 1800s, this luxury hotel is also haunted by the ghost of a woman who lost her boyfriend in World War II. Over the years, guests have recognized paranormal activity from the balcony which she threw herself off of.
With views this beautiful, can we really blame the dearly departed for wanting to stick around at this historic and iconic San Diego landmark? The most infamous spirit residing at the Hotel del Coronado is Kate Morgan, a young woman who checked into the hotel in 1892 and never checked out. Instead, it’s thought her lovely likeness and gentle spirit remain as the resort’s resident ghost.
Dubbed the "Grey Ghost" because of her stealth and stark color, The Queen Mary ship lived up to her spooky nickname and was voted one of the Top 10 Most Haunted Places in America by Time magazine. This historic ship is reported to have several paranormal passengers including an engineer who died in the ship's engine room, a "lady in white," and various children who like to hang around the first-class pool. If you’re brave enough to try out your sea-legs, plenty of haunted encounters await you including a paranormal ship walk through the ship’s most active locations.
The Driskill has a timeless array of guests: former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, Bob Dylan and Sandra Bullock. It also has its fair share of timeless paranormal activity. If you are looking for a run in with a colonial ghost, stay at Logan Inn and request room six. Emily, a former mother of one of the owners, has been said to cry at night. This former tavern turned hotel is one of the oldest operating inns in America and Emily is sticking around for her legacy.
Georgia’s oldest city strikes again with another historic and spooky estate in Savannah. The Marshall House served as a hospital during the Civil War and has since ranked on over a dozen haunted hotel listings. Guests at this classic, southern hotel have reported seeing ghosts in the hallways, hearing children running down the halls late at night, and hearing faucets turning on by themselves.
