The term ‘graciosa’ translates to mean ‘funny,’ in Spanish. While there is nothing technically humorous about Graciosa, this magical Australian spot is definitely fun, and is, without a doubt, a space where light-hearted memories are surely made. Resting atop a hill, you’ll find yourself oohing and ahhing over the elegant and rustic styled farmhouse, with views overlooking the 79-acre fields and the village of Bangalow. Once you’ve picked your jaw up off the floor, you’ll find yourself wandering through a stunning bamboo archway that leads directly to an ahhhmazing barn. Complete with grand French doors and whimsical stained glass windows, this venue is plucked straight from a dream. If we’re all on the same page right now, then you must be thinking this is beyond perfection for a fab wedding.

When we imagine a wedding taking place here, we envision a groom in front of the stained glass windows of the barn, and his beautiful bride-to-be gliding through that gorgeous bamboo archway. When we heard of a stylish wedding that occurred at this remarkable property, we wanted to hear, see, and be part of it all! We chatted up with uber-talented destination wedding photographer, Simon J. Coulson, who told us everything we needed to know about bride and groom Katie and Adam, and gave us all the must-know deets on their romantic nuptials.

Tell us a few of the highlights of your experience at the venue?

Graciosa is one of the most interesting venues I have ever photographed, the bamboo arch is amazing. From a photographers point of view, there is no end of sweet spots to go take some epic photographs.

Tell us about the venue in general?

Graciosa is just outside of Byron Bay, Queensland. It has a stunning old barn for the wedding breakfast and reception, a beautiful bamboo arch for the ceremony and gorgeous house to stay in, it’s a perfect venue.

Tell us a little bit about the event you photographed?

Katie & Adam are creatives like myself that wanted their wedding documented in a creative way with minimum fuss from the photographer.

What made this venue an ideal location for the event?

It’s a beautiful part of the world.

Tell us a little bit about the couple and why they chose this venue :)

Adam proposed to Katie in Byron Bay.

Were there any areas you thought lighting was the best?

The lighting in the barn was amazing, the whole place had a very artistic feel. The Wedding Shed took care of the furniture and styling.

What made the venue a great backdrop and setting for photos?

The bamboo arch.

Favourite existing design elements of the venue?

The venue has a very comfortable, rural feel and yet is just down the road from Byron Bay. The bamboo arch is very cool, the way it creeks and moans as you are underneath makes you feel a part of nature.

Any special drinks or eats you had in the surrounding area?

Byron Bay is one of the coolest spots in Queensland, it has a beautiful beach, surrounded by stunning landscape and has a great variety restaurants. I stayed in Byron Beach Resort right on the coast, had a swim in the morning then drove inland for a look around.

What makes both the area + the venue a good destination for a group getaway or event?

It has everything a getaway needs to offer.

Did you meet anyone at the venue that you connected with or made a lasting impression?

The team from Byron Bay Weddings made me feel very welcome and easy to do my job.

The Australians know how to throw a party, and they sure didn't disappoint when developing this gorgeous property. This perfect party palace, with its sophisticated indoor and outdoor options, creates the most breathtaking backdrop for tying the knot. If you’re looking to throw yourself a glam wedding that will leave a lasting memory for everyone, then Graciosa is the spot. So…“se divertido y graciosa,” or in other words, “be fun and be funny” with your bests while you marry your mate at Graciosa!
