Stepping into Hotel Peter & Paul feels like wandering onto a cinematic set brimming with history and charm. This beautifully restored 19th-century New Orleans hotel encompasses a church, rectory, schoolhouse, and convent, offering 71 inviting guest rooms adorned with rich colors and vintage treasures that whisper stories of the past.
I confess: I sometimes pretend that I’m in a movie when I travel to a new place. Amelie, when I’m inParis, Breakfast at Tiffany’s in New York. But, I haven’t yet seen a place quite like Hotel Peter & Paul, that could inspire a film of its own making. The rich colors, bold patterns, and exquisite drapery and textiles add a tasteful drama to the gracious, historic architecture and interior. The gorgeous flower arrangements, chocolatey hardwood floors, and vintage light fixtures breathe even more life into this Old-World-meets-New-School masterpiece nestled in the heart of New Orleans(only a short walk from the French Quarter).
Did I mention that there is a restored, 19th century Church that has served as a space for gathering and community for over a century?! If you’ve ever wanted to feel like the main character of a Southern Gothic, Romantic period piece, Hotel Peter & Paul will make for the perfect destination.

Good for Gatherings
This beautiful property features three main event spaces, each with its own unique charm and character.
As you saunter into the Elysian Bar, the whispers of history morph into the hum of good humor, and the atmosphere becomes as intoxicating as a fine cocktail. This beautiful space is where the celebration continues – or rather, where your aunt Mildred's signature dance moves continue. With its nod to classical mythology and a menu that's equal parts Mediterranean, European, and NOLA flair, The Elysian Bar is the perfect spot to gather 'round with your tribe. Oh, and make sure to ask for the "Chicken Under a Brick" – a dish so divine, your uncle Todd will definitely make a beeline here after the ceremony and you might not see him until you're traipsing through the glorious halls after the reception has been long over.
With room for up to 150 guests, you can customize your celebration with five distinct rooms to choose from:
- Parlor 1 for up to 20 guests
- Parlor 2 for up to 26
- the Sunroom for up to 16
- the Bar for up to 27
- and the Courtyard for up to 50.
The Piazza, which accommodates up to 100 guests, is nestled between the School House and Rectory. It’s a lovely place to have drinks, passed appetizers, and oyster shuckers! The piazza is bound by greenery and historic buildings on either side - plus a new addition of romantic string lights hanging from above.
Pictured Above: Church of Saints Peter & Paul
The Church has served as a haven and gathering place for over for a century and a half. After decades of rest, the great hall of Saints Peter & Paul was lovingly restored with careful attention. Built in 1861, every pane of stained glass is infused with history and every brick with stories of days past. The Church accommodates up to 160 seated guests, and 350 standing guests for gatherings, events, and weddings.
Step into the grand hall of Saints Peter & Paul, where the whispers of history dance between every stained glass pane, each illuminated by flickers of light that seem to carry secrets from the past. Designed by renowned architect Henry Howard, this architectural gem has evolved from a sacred haven into a mesmerizing gathering space, perfect for celebrating life’s most cherished moments. The thoughtful re-design resonates with rich color palettes inspired by classic religious paintings, inviting up to 160 seated guests for intimate soirées or welcoming 350 spirited souls for lively celebrations, ensuring that every event holds the weight of its storied lineage while embracing the vibrant pulse of the Marigny community.
Good for Groups + Guests
There’s a certain magic to this hotel that makes you feel like you’ve stepped straight into a scene from “Interview with a Vampire,” only with better lighting and far less brooding. Thanks to the heartfelt collaboration between Ash and the ever-charming Nathalie Jordi, this space serves as a love letter to New Orleans' rich history, showcasing original features such as cypress wood mouldings and marble fireplaces that whisper tales of yesteryear. Each nook is adorned with stunning antique chandeliers and Ash's custom rugs, handmade in India, adding a flair of the exotic to the charming Southern gothic vibe. Meanwhile, the striking mural of a 19th-century sitting room on the former schoolhouse stage beckons, inviting you to settle in with a good book—or perhaps an artful cocktail—as you embrace the quirky elegance of the interior.
