The designers and architects of this “hill country dream” knew what they were doing when they developed the beautiful Camp Lucy. Nestled on a remarkable ranch in Dripping Springs, Texas, Mother Nature has blessed this special event and luxury accommodations venue with grand ancient oak trees, winding pathways, landscaped garden grounds, glistening creeks, floral arches, and white-oak timber buildings. When a person is as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside, there’s even more to love about them, right? Featuring an outstanding chapel with dramatic French-Colonial style and old-world brick courtyards, we can all testify, similarly to that of a person, that the inside of this property definitely matches the outside, giving it five stars from us! From their world-class services and warm hospitality to the breathtaking natural location and modern amenities, it’s easily understood why Camp Lucy has received such recognition and acclaim for this impeccably maintained property.

Like most beautiful things, there is definitely a long & lovely history to Camp Lucy. So, to provide a brief background, here’s what we know. Camp Lucy went from family ranch to events destination, when the family’s oldest son moved to Vietnam and discovered an abundance of French-Colonial antiques, including an 1880’s Catholic church, which was eventually purchased, dissembled, and transferred to the ranch. Upon reassembling, everything else followed. Today, this chapel, in its original form, a pavilion, events hall, acres upon acres of surrounding fields, is known as Ian’s Chapel in honor of the person who started it all. This unique spot is so gorgeous beyond words that it has become a dream destination for brides and grooms all over. We recently sat with Mint Photography who shared some words and pics from an ultimate-chic wedding that took place on these breathtaking grounds. Grab a Kleenex or two…you might well up by the time you get to the end!

Tell us about the venue in general?

Camp Lucy has two "venues" within it, Ian's Chapel & Sacred Oaks. Depending which venue the event is at, it can be a completely different style and aesthetic.

Favorite existing design elements of the venue?

I love the surrounding nature on both sides.

What made the venue a great backdrop and setting for photos?

Our style of photography depends highly on natural light and nature backdrops so having a lot of nature around the area is really beneficial as opposed to downtown settings etc.

Did you meet anyone at the venue that you connected with or made a lasting impression?

The people I've met there that have had the biggest lasting impression have been the coordinators that are a part of the Camp Lucy team,

Stephanie Middleton & Kristen White are the two I've worked with the most.

Any insider tips?

Whim Florals who is their in-house floral team also does gorgeous florals every time!

There you have it! Camp Lucy is like a Wordsworth poem come to life. It is a dream of all dreams. With historic roots and a family background, this property has a heart and a soul you feel the second you make an entrance. This venue creates the most picturesque backdrop for an elegant and whimsical wedding, but can function as a space for anything from a group getaway to a social event or holiday party. There’s no wrongdoing in a celebration where Texas Hill Country meets French-Colonial, in fact, it’s all just so right, so we suggest checking out this fab spot when considering your next big celebration!
