When we think of a former military fortress, romance isn't necessarily the first thing that comes to mind. We imagine architect-owner Antonio Obrador must have stood where the lounge is now, eyes closed, basking in a sea breeze overlooking stunning views of the bay of Palma and was overcome with the potential in this rather daunting Spanish military fortress. Thusly, he refurbished it into a dreamy destination we’d love to get lost in. Cap Rocat is a stunning waterfront hotel and wedding venue in Mallorca, Spain.
With the help of star photographer Pia Clodi of Peaches & Mint and the dazzling design styling of Anna Brinkmann of Wedding Design Hamburg, the team created a pastel paradise along the bay of Palma de Mallorca for these two lovebirds. We recently got to sit down with Clodi of Peaches & Mint, who expertly captured the unique beauty of this seaside fortress, to learn why this historical hideaway was the optimal location for a romantic and relaxing weekend away.

Tell us a little about the venue + the couple.
For the celebration of their love and vows to each other, Yiwei and Yuka chose one of the most beautiful locations in the world. Nestled deep within the Mediterranean, surrounded by downright spectacular views, lies the island of Mallorca. Their incredible venue Cap Rocat, an old military fort situated in a private bay facing the old town of Palma, really stopped my heart a beat! From the magical ceremony location, with the Spanish sun retiring in the background, to the endlessly romantic reception and dinner, flawlessly curated by Cap Rocat and beautifully designed and planned by Anna Brinkmann of Weddingdesign Hamburg, Yiwei and Yuka’s wedding didn’t leave any wishes unfulfilled.
Surely entering the venue through the big archway of the fortress. It feels like you can leave your world behind and are protected from anything so you can concentrate on relaxing fully!
Why did the couple choose this venue?
As one of the highlights on the beautiful island of Mallorca it quickly conquered the couples heart - the view is incredible, the atmosphere of the old fortress a very unique experience and their service couldn’t be any more flawless. Truly a luxury experience that doesn’t leave any wishes open.
Tell us a little bit about the event you photographed?
A romantic destination wedding, organised by Anna Brinkmann, Weddingdesign Hamburg and flawlessly curated by the team at Cap Rocat. A stunning sunset ceremony, gorgeous dinner & enough time to explore & relax for the guests. The couple also greatly enjoyed the many photogenic spots that Cap Rocat has to offer!
What do you think makes it a great venue in general?
Because it has so many different sides and locations in itself to offer. Guests can move from one location to another within and this way make a lot of the spectacular architecture of the fortress.
Favorite existing design elements of the venue?
The old fortress walls are just beautiful and so unique! There’s such a calm to this location, I thought that was very incredible - a very special atmosphere and ideally to relax!
Is there anything you connected with specifically about the venue, event or surrounding area?
I especially felt connected to the light and neutral color palette and the touches of whimsy with the floral crowns and pops of muted blush. One of my favorite aspects to a small, exclusive island like Mallorca is the feel of relaxed luxury as it is a coveted vacation destination location. I felt truly inspired by the beauty of Mallorca and the beauty of Yiwei and Yuka’s love.
