Venue Features
The Scene:
In 1939, Mrs. Florida Lasier of Chicago snagged her silk stockings on a wild blackberry bramble while exploring the idyllic Smoky Mountain foothills, and the name Blackberry Farm was born. Thirty-six years later, the Beall family invested their hearts and souls in the same romantic site that has become their family home and lifelong passion. Today, one of America's most celebrated intimate luxury hotels beckons discerning guests who aspire to escape modern-day frenzy and slip into a Blackberry state of mind. Situated on a pastoral 4,200-acre estate in the Great Smoky Mountains, Blackberry Farm will show you the many reasons why it is one of the top rated properties in the world.
Design:
Kreis Beall was 23 years old and had one child and another on the way in 1976 when she and her husband Sandy purchased Blackberry Farm as their family home. Incapable of suppressing either her southern hospitality or her design sense, Kreis has, in the subsequent years, transformed the nine-bedroom farmhouse into a Relais & Chateaux estate and restaurant. She has also minted Blackberry Farm's acclaimed high country style and created a design studio whose work has been featured in Southern Accents, Southern Living, Bon Appetit, Town & Country and Travel & Leisure, and on HGTV and PBS.

Eats & Drinks
Food, Restaurants, Cafes, Bars & Lounges
Food, Restaurants, Cafes:
The Main House - The breakfast and lunch experience is set in the Main House Dining Room, the original home on property which captures the warmth and pleasure of family and friends gathered around the table to share their favorite foods. The cuisine is Southern in every way. Discover the same commitment to local, fresh ingredients and the customs of the foothills, but enjoy in a more relaxed setting The Barn - Fine dining, multi-course, highly and elegantly serviced, the Barn is the quintessential dining experience at Blackberry Farm. The Barn offers guests a facility that has been designed with the most unique dining setting in mind.
Bars & Lounges:
Dogwood Bar - The Main House has been the heart of Blackberry Farm since its beginning in 1939. Quietly tucked within, the Dogwood Bar is a favorite gathering place for mid-afternoon to early evening. Whether relaxing on the veranda and admiring the mountain view, or sitting with a book by one of the two fireplaces, you’ll find the Dogwood Bar the perfect place to enjoy one of our signature cocktails, a handcrafted whisk(e)y, a glass of wine or a cold beer. The Dogwood opens each day at noon. The Barn Bar - The Barn, opened on September 11th 2007, stands as a symbol for the commitment to food and wine that Blackberry has made to its guests. It is the centerpiece of the Farmstead and it is what brings all the aspects of Blackberry Farm together for an inconceivable gastronomic experience. The Barn Bar, nestled in the Gambrel of the Barn, overlooks the green pastures of Blackberry filled with our East Friesian sheep. There is no better place on property to sit beside a fireplace and enjoy a sunset view with a cocktail. Libations begin at 6:00pm. While both of our bars sport an unrivaled selection of premium liquors, they specialize in whisk(e)y. After all, we are surrounded by the core of American whiskey production. Of course our collection is comprised of both American and international whiskies. However, the one closest to our hearts are the ones produced closest to our homes. We like to believe that our region is at the forefront of the American whiskey revival, and the amber glow that emanates from within our bars clearly represents our passion for brown spirits.

Blackberry Farm

Blackberry Farm, West Millers Cove Road, Walland, TN, United States

The Scoop

Koby and Terilyn Brown of Archetype Studio captured the intimate nuptials of pop superstar Kelly Clarkson to Brandon Blackstock in the fall of 2013. The couple had originally planned a grand celebration for 200 guests, but as the date drew closer, they decided an elopement was more their style. They chose Blackberry Farm as their “I do” destination: a sprawling 9,200 acre estate and working farm in Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains, which Clarkson referred to as “the most beautiful place ever.” No arguments here!
