Venue Setting

Wedderburn Castle is a perfect venue offering a relaxing Scottish country-house style experience for you and your guests. If you choose to base your wedding at the castle you have the use of all of our magnificent reception rooms and comfortable bedrooms to enjoy with family and friends. We can host ceremonies, weddings and parties for up to 80 people at the castle and up to 150 at our barn wedding space, which is just a short walk from the castle. 

Wedderburn Barns offer a more informal, rustic space and you can hold a religious, humanist or civil ceremony in the courtyard at the barns or in the light, character-filled Cartshed. There are also several pretty local churches just a few miles away if you would like a church ceremony. 

If you would like to hold a wedding ceremony at the barns but also use the castle during the day, the castle drawing room, gallery space and lawns are fantastic places for a drinks reception for up to 150, while your wedding photography takes place in the hall or outdoors. Dinner can then be served in the atmospheric Provender Barn, before returning to the cartshed space for a ceilidh, DJ or other entertainment. The barns are a wonderful space to decorate in exactly the style you would like, providing a blank canvas to let your imagination run wild. 

Accommodation for up to 26 people is available in the castle on either a full rental or B&B basis if you would like to book the barns for your wedding but also use the castle as a convenient and luxurious place to rest your head after your party. We also have space for a further 16 people in the stylish cottages and lodges around the estate so it is possible to have up 42 people sleeping on-site. In addition, there are a number of excellent hotels and B&Bs in the local area and I have attached details of these.

Catering for your party is provided by our panel of caterers who can provide a range of dining options, from wedding banquets to more rustic options such as hog roasts, tagines, barbecues and sharing platters. I have included a list of our approved caterers and their contact details but please let us know if you would like us to ask any of them to contact you directly. The caterers also handle the bar and drinks at the castle and barns and most offer the opportunity to bring your own wine for the reception and dinner and pay a corkage fee, order from their wholesale selection of wines, or to operate a cash bar throughout. 

If you choose to book Wedderburn we would provide a list of all of our recommended local suppliers with the booking pack to help you to make plans. They are all extremely professional and have worked with our clients over many years. We are also be happy to assist with any planning queries you might have by email or telephone.

Wedderburn has 12 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, and is suitable for a resident party of up to 26 guests. The rooms are luxuriously spacious and a powerful modern heating system ensures that the castle is always warm. All rooms include items of the castle’s original furniture, which date back to the 1770s, while bathrooms have been designed to reflect modern influences.

Four comfortable and luxurious estate cottages and lodges are also available, providing further accommodation in the grounds of the castle for 16 additional guests, taking the number accommodated in and around Wedderburn to 42. We can also supply a list of alternative local accommodation for additional guests to circulate with your invitations. 

Wedderburn is an exceptional private castle available for house parties, weddings and receptions. The castle offers a relaxed country house experience for one night, several days or for a longer stay. The castle rental includes all bedrooms and reception rooms, allowing you to enjoy your stay in privacy and comfort.

In springtime the blossom from the cherry trees on the drive and the apple tree in the barns courtyard look like confetti when the wind blows. 

The castle grounds are full of wildlife, including some very cute deer, hares, rabbits and pheasants.

Each of the bedrooms has a fireplace. Sadly these can't be used due to safety restrictions but they really add to the character of the castle.

Venue Features
The Scene:
Wedderburn Castle was conceived by Scotland’s most renowned architect, Robert Adam, as a place to entertain. Today Wedderburn’s interiors and grounds, created over 240 years ago, have been immaculately restored to retain all of the castle’s original charm and to also include all of the modern comforts required to make your stay enjoyable.

The castle is set in 80 acres of beautiful parkland and woodland, providing outdoor reception spaces and privacy for your party.
Design:
The castle had a stunning chimneypiece by Piranese in the drawing room and there are bits of furniture by Chippendale throughout the building. However all bathrooms have been recently installed and include monsoon showers, roll-top baths and luxurious fittings by Fired Earth and other top names. 

The castle kitchen has the original bread ovens and cooking ranges in place in the dining kitchen alongside a log-burning stove. 

The barns were launched in 2013 and has been created in the 18th century stables a short walk from the castle. It retains many of its original historic features.

The castle and its lands have been owned by the Home family since the 15th century. Owners David and Cat are still very much involved with the castle and the barns and are happy to help you with planning your wedding or party.

Bars & Lounges:
We have a bar in the morning room that is overseen by the caterers. There is also a drinks fridge in the dining kitchen where you can store drinks. 

Tea and coffee is availale in the dining kitchen throughout your stay.
