Venue Setting

The floor on which the great rooms are located is newly constructed. This level did not exist before but was added with the new structure which is carrying the roof from the top, instead of supporting it from below. This is why you don’t see any pillars. The total amount of 440m2 event space offers endless possibilities. It can host from spectacular events to extraordinary conferences. The perfect space to show and tell. Futuristic ceiling with daylight views. The ceiling represents the sky of Amsterdam: always changing and with a different lighting every hour of the day. Abstract fashion decorates the walls. Besides that, three video screens (1 in each room, all 3 by 5 meters) can be linked with each other to be used for multiple purposes. The walls have a typical Dutch lace print, drilled in blue steel plates, which relates to traditional Dutch and contemporary fashion.

The exchange building and the KAS bank building showcase their individual personalities whilst maintaining their historical heritage While The Royal Dutch Post building is a visionary analog machine of intersecting lines, integrated spaces and captivating central views, the KAS Bank building is an introverted creative incubator showcasing the city’s leading talents in art, fashion and design Together they connect and exchange in the know locals and worldly visitors to discover an all hours scene where almost anything goes.

W’sreinterpretation of the traditional lobby a social space to mix and mingle to see and be seen, sip, drink and flirt. Where day transitions to night Kick start your day with a coffee or mix it up with one of our signature cocktails Get together during the A series of W Happenings, programmed by W Amsterdam’s music curator: Electronic house. These W happenings are big events that occur around 4 to 5 times a year and are open to everyone They can range from the launch of a new clothing line to a champagne party on our rooftop terrace.

The building used to be full of copper pipes carrying telephone and electricity lines did you know we will now have 5 km of copper pipes decorating our W Lounge? The pipes run along the ceiling and serve as stunning dividers. The stairs in W lounge are reminiscent of the stairs in the iconic Dam Square, just below these stairs that lead to the atrium turn into the bar, all in one flowing line. The golden lines on the windows are a metal screenprint representing the copper pipes that used to run through the building. The glass was manufactured especially for W Amsterdam by Saint Gobain the biggest glass manufacturer in the world.
