It's lined with windows along one side, letting in plenty of natural light during the day. When night falls, elegant pendant lights illuminate the space. Stride out into the picturesque pocket of the city. This 17th-century canal, lined with colourful houses and stunning sailboats, continuously tops lists of Copenhagen's must-see sights, and it's easy to see why. But, while it may attract the tourists, there's no doubt that the locals love it just as much, and you'd be hard-pushed to find a better spot in the city to enjoy a cold beer on a warm summer's afternoon. To the east, a bridge connects you to the cafes and canals of Christianshavn and the hippie haven of Christiania, where quirky self-built homes line the lake. While to the west lie Copenhagen's pedestrianised shopping streets and the low-key creative cool of Kødbyen, also known as the Meatpacking District, a ten-minute bike ride away.
