Venue Setting
Once a ruined chapel in a Norfolk woodland, the crumbling brickwork and old stone arches have been lovingly restored to create a rural retreat like no other. The red-brick walls of the Victorian, gothic-revival chapel have been saved, to create a stunning entrance to this contemporary architectural marvel. The main house is straight out of the pages of a glossy architectural digest; a vision in timber, brick and glass that slides away to blend the garden with the open living area. Here you’ll find a hand-crafted kitchen with every kind of pot and pan hanging above the bespoke island. The dining table harks back to the ruins of the chapel, with a church pew for a bench and a refectory-rustic table. A family snug is a perfect place to unwind, and there’s a games room and office covering working remotely and leisurely evenings. Our favourite spot has to be the library nook, where you can curl up with a good book from the vast collection and watch the sun set behind the silhouette of the old chapel. Out of the house, you're in a great position for exploring the North Norfolk countryside (Great Snoring might be one of our favourite quintessential English village names), and the hosts kindly provide two Knaap two-seater electric bikes if you want to venture further afield.
