Venue Setting

It's always a delight to visit this part of Kent and this cool and quirky home, set just steps from Walmer Beach, fits in here perfectly. Set at the end of a row of Victorian cottages, with some gorgeous period details like old floorboards and pretty fireplaces, it's a spacious home that's been completely renovated in the last couple of years. And if it looks like a house of two halves from the outside, that's because part of it was the local corner shop up until the 1980s. Inside, it's one of those homes that feels bigger on the inside, with a good size living room and a separate dining room, along with a bedroom, bathroom and newly-fitted kitchen on the ground floor. There's a vintage log burner to keep you toasty in the living room and comfy velvet sofas for curling up on. Three further bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs makes this place perfect for a large family, or perhaps two sharing. And if you're lucky with the weather, you can make use of the barbecue and sit out in the little courtyard garden – and light the patio heater as it gets dark. It's an easy walk up the beach in one direction to nearby Walmer Castle, with Deal and its famous castle and pier around a seventeen-minute walk in the other. Packed with independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants, Deal is a hidden gem of a town, which stays relatively crowd-free even in summer. But you don't even have to walk that far if you don't want to, with a fish and chip shop, a real ale pub and a café practically on your doorstep.
