Nestled along the banks of the Yarra River, with Yarra Bend Park on one side and the Abbotsford Convent on the other, the Collingwood Children’s Farm’s 7 hectares of beautiful farmland is a secluded world away from the hustle and bustle of Melbourne, but is unbelievably only 4.5kms from the city.
Wedding ceremonies are held under the shade of 100 year old oak tree or in the paddock overlooking the river with reception following in one of the 3 unique spaces at the Farm.
The 100 year old barn has heaps of atmosphere and rustic style, and seats up to 100 or 150 cocktail style. There’s plenty of room for dancing and music on the milking floor, and huge original stone fireplace keeps things cosy. For larger weddings, the paddock is available for a marquee or tipi set up, while smaller intimate receptions are held in the Farm Cafe.
The Farm Cafe takes care of the food and event management. A wedding is the perfect excuse for a great meal, and all the food is designed to be shared, bringing people together over delicious food. Guests can help themselves, returning to platters of slow roasted meats and hearty sides for seconds, thirds and even fourths! In 8 years of running weddings, the food’s never run out.
All weddings are set up from scratch, which provides lots of scope for personalisation and tailoring the set up and styling to the individual couple. Each couple has a dedicated Event Producer to guide them through the planning process, and manage everything on the day from the bump in of the furniture to the set up of the couple’s decorations. Weddings at the Farm are as personal and unique as the couple, but what they all share is a relaxed rural setting, heaps of fun and great food.
