The Ammonites
Venue Setting
As many of the Jurassic Coast’s fossils and geological phenomenons are over sixty-five million years old, this three-hundred-year-old fisherman’s cottage seems young in comparison. But this charming home, just a five-minute walk from the starting point of the Jurassic Coast, still offers plenty of historic charm. In the heart of this quaint village, next to the rolling waters of the River Lim, your cottage’s private, cobbled patio is ideal for balmy evenings with a chilled glass of wine and a barbecue. Or on chilly afternoons, step inside to its bright and cosy living space. We love its understated decor (with some nautical nods) in neutral tones – it’s a calming environment that’s wonderful for a family escape. Imagine gathering round the roaring hearth with a hot cup of cocoa after a long day of exploring the coast. If Lyme Regis' pebble beach and the sandy shore of Monmouth Beach aren’t enough for you, hop in the car and take an eight-minute drive to the striking Fossil Beach – also known as Ammonite Pavement. And if you’re still hungry for more history, the Dinosaurland Fossil Museum is just a two-minute stroll from home.
