A short drive will take you to quaint villages which are worth a visit, such as Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale, if only to regain some energy between walks in the village pub. If the group's feeling adventurous, there are many other popular trails to explore in the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District.
