- The Scene:
- Sassafraz, the yellow house in downtown Toronto's historic Yorkville neighbourhood has the look and feel of the French Quarters in New Orleans not too mention the charm. Sassafraz is known for our exquisite cocktails and delicious foods. Sassafraz showcases a cozy bar/cafe, elegant main dining room and well appointed private event space. Let's talk about the latter two with info on S cafe_bar to follow below. Private Event Space Situated on the second level (barrier free access) is our well appointed private event space comprised of the Bellair and Cumberland that can be used separately (with stunning floor to ceiling decorative frosted glass panels) or combined to form one seamless room. The private space features banks of windows, sleek built in bar, mp3 plug n' play, satellite radio, wall mounted 60" flat panel and cordless mic. Main Dining Room The main dining room features banks of windows on one side and the stunning living wall on the other. The dining room's warm, clean and contemporary design along with clever lighting layout make it one of the most breathtaking restaurant interiors in Toronto. Combination Many social and corporate functions use a combination of both the private event room and main dining room. The event space for pre-dinner cocktails and any post dinner activity such as dancing with the dining room for the actual dinner. The flow is seamless. On site wedding ceremony can also take place in the private space.
- Standout Venue Features:
- Sassafraz is proud to be one of the first commercial properties in Ontario to adopt a bio-wall. The vertical wall of lush living plants gives Sassafraz its unique eye appeal but this clean-air technology also filters the indoor air. Indoor air is drawn in through the plant wall, where micro-organisms on the plants’ roots consume pollutants such as formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), making the air you breathe while in the restaurant more clean and pleasant.

Located at the corner of Bellair and Cumberland, the little yellow house has “seen it all” from the early hippie movement of the 60’s to the lack of movement that comes from too much Bordeaux.
