The scene:
Nick Mathers has a passion for seeing the world and exploring new cultures. For the past fifteen years, he's visited the Greek islands, everywhere from Mykonos to Santorini. His first visit and favorite area of Greece was in Kastellorizo, an island in the Southeastern Mediterranean. During this visit, he fell in love with the Greek lifestyle, and even rushed to the community's aid to help put out a church fire. He wanted to bring to life this rich culture and share the food and traditions of Kastellorizo with Los Angeles. His newest venture, The Kassi Club, is a vibrant lounge on 3rd Street in West Hollywood, showcasing Greeki nfused food and cocktails. The dishes encompass Mediterranean island food, including varieties of seafoodand roasted meats on the venue's woodfired pit. The extensive cocktail menu boasts ingredients like ouzo, Greek brandy, and Greek mountain tea.
Design:
Kassi Club will make guests feel as if they are walking into a new age Greek Taverna. The inspiration for design came from a traditional Taverna that Mathers visited in Greece, with rattan ceilings, wooden floors, and leather chairs - right on the sand. He used a similar aesthetic, but modernized it, with customized furniture and decorative artwork. The space includes stucco and concrete synonymous to Greece, along with stone from Ithica for the bar and sinks. The floor is a wood oak, which is common in Greek restaurants. The Kassi Club welcomes group dining in a lounge atmosphere, encouraging guests to mingle amongst each other in an intimate setting.

If there's one thing you can look forward to with LA restaurants, it's that they will be transportive in nature to somewhere far, far away from the busy streets right outside their doors. Within each restaurant, you could be traveling to the coast of Italy or the islands of Greece, and don't worry, there's no overplayed theme in sight. Instead, tasteful restaurateurs are bringing the best of their travels to your next dining experience, and it's good. So good. Last year, we covered such a restaurant opening from Nick Mathers and Wish You Were Here Group in the heart of Santa Monica overlooking the ocean. Its name was Elephante. One year later, it’s a veritable sensation and destination among locals and visitors alike.  New to the scene for Summer ‘19 is another project from Mathers and Wish You Were Here called The Kassi Club. And it’s taking you straight to Greece, Kastellorizo to be exact. Inspired by the laid back tavernas found along the island’s shores, Mathers designed a globally inspired space that feels airy yet rich. It’s meant to be enjoyed with friends and family surrounded by thoughtful interiors and the freshest food.
