Once part of an old farmhouse, this delightful apartment is located in the historical complex of Matraia. Doors from the dining room open out onto a pretty courtyard full of terracotta pots and flowering oleanders. There’s also a large private garden with a lawn, sun loungers and a dining area – perfect for an alfresco meal of tagliatelle al tartufo. Or go for a swim in the gorgeous communal pool with its views over the extensive grounds towards the Lucca Valley. There's an indoor pool, spa and gym here too. If you fancy exploring the area, the medieval city of Lucca is a twenty-minute drive away, where beyond its Renaissance walls, you'll find landmarks such as the Guinigi Tower and Lucca Cathedral. Alternatively, visit Casa di Puccini, where the celebrated opera composer was born. Lucca is also home to various musical and cultural events throughout the year, such as the Lucca Summer Festival. Further afield, Pisa, with its famous Leaning Tower, is forty minutes in the car, while Versilia and its golden sandy beaches are a forty-two-minute ride.
