- The Scene:
- Island Oyster is a 32,000-square-foot outdoor restaurant located off the tip of lower Manhattan on historic Governors Island. Formerly a Coast Guard base, this car-free island has been transformed into an oasis of tree groves, bike paths and outdoor activities.
Guests arrive at the island via a 7 minute, public ferry running from lower Manhattan. Upon arriving at Island Oyster, they'll immediately take in the full expanse of the NYC skyline, including both the Hudson and East Rivers, the Brooklyn Bridge, and more.
Offering flexible areas for formal dining and informal hangouts, guests can find patrons knocking back oysters at our raw bar, playing lawn games, gathered around large format cocktails with groups of friends or enjoying our signature dishes, like our lobster roll. - Design:
- We built Island Oyster from the ground up, utilizing retired shipping containers to create an airy, eco-friendly design. The entire restaurant is fully oriented towards the water, with nods to our nautical and natural surroundings found in the reclaimed wood benches, brass taps and brightly colored paint.
- Standout Venue Features:
- The Governor's Island ferry makes for an epic arrival to the venue, taking you worlds away from the bustle of Manhattan in a mere 7 minutes. Our flexible space can accommodate all kinds of events, and is fully customizable for buyouts.
