Venue Setting

An 1890s estate-turned-boutique hotel, Hotel Lilien was reimagined in late 2022 by the San Francisco design studio Field Theory and The Lost Boys Hospitality Group, a team of Californians whose previous properties earned a “cult-like following” among guests, according to The New York Times.

Known on the mountaintop as the living room of the quaint but hip village of Tannersville, Hotel Lilien is an all-seasons estate perfectly situated minutes from skiing at Hunter Mountain, hiking at Kaaterskill Falls, and boating on Rip Van Winkle Lake.

But it’s the property itself that attracts travelers near and far: The interiors are replete with antique, vintage, and minimalist modern furnishings to reflect the belongings of someone who has been collecting special pieces over the course of many years, making Hotel Lilien—and the events we host here—truly one-of-a-kind.

Thoughtfully designed to serve as a home base for corporate offsites, celebrations, and weddings, with welcome drinks in our wood-paneled salon, tented receptions on our star-gazing lawn, and afterparties with s’mores at our outdoor fire pit, Hotel Lilien brings your guests together for memorable experiences.

Inside Scoop

If you've got some time to stay awhile, ask co-owner Chris what brought him to Panama and how the Lost Boys Hospitality Group got their name. And don't miss the chef's brisket tacos.

Venue Features
The scene:
Pull up a chair and you’ll find friendly faces, cozy corners, and good times at our artfully restored and thoughtfully curated 18-room boutique hotel and cocktail bar. A stone’s throw from Hunter Mountain, we’re minutes away from the region’s best dining and outdoor adventures. It’s a place where locals and visitors gather around the same wood burning stove to clink craft beers, share stories, and slow time just for awhile—the unofficial living room of Tannersville.
Design:

Renovated and redesigned in 2022, Hotel Lilien features a blend of original 1890s woodwork and minimalist modern art and furnishings designed by the San Francisco-based firm Field Theory in collaboration with The Lost Boys Hospitality Group. The team of Californians got their start in Panama, where their properties earned a “cult-like following” among guests, according to The New York Times. The group came to be known as “The Lost Boys,” a reference to the Neverland-like experiences they craft for their guests.

Standout venue features:
Well-situated for all seasons, we’re 4 minutes from Hunter Mountain’s ski slopes, and hiking trails; a hop, skip, and a jump from downtown Tannersville; 8 minutes from hiking at Kaaterskill Falls; and 6 minutes from the 178-acre Mountain Top Arboretum. But hey, we won’t blame you if you’d prefer to hunker down and enjoy the grounds. Whether you plan to warm up by our wood burning stove or let loose in the great outdoors, our complimentary guest amenities make it easier to kick back—or kick into gear. Pack light—we’ve got you covered with complementary snow shoes, a sled menu, board games, a fire pit, billiards, and a pool (open late spring through early fall).
Extra perks:
Wood feasting tables, high tops, and additional dining chairs are available upon request.

Our cocktail bar and lounge offers a mix of sharable bites and satisfying mains, from our popular charcuterie board filled with local cheese and honey, to our seasonal salads, famous fried chicken sandwich, and brisket tacos you'll be talking about all the way down the mountain. No meal is complete without our baked-to-order campfire cookies served warm with a scoop of classic vanilla ice cream on top.
Order a seasonal craft cocktail, local beer, or glass of wine in our sprawling wood-panelled cocktail bar. Enjoy it in our 1890s library, or cozy up by the wood-burning stove in our spacious lounge. Adorned with iconic, original stained glass windows, the lounge also features doors that open to the great outdoors so you can sip from our side deck or the vintage rockers fill our front porch.
