- The Scene:
The old cinema is renovated from a-z with its rich heritage in mind.
The color palette, the lighting, the scents, the choice of fabrics and materials are meant to lead you on a journey of a property built solemnly to entertain. Even though the role of the building has changed, the purpose is still the same. To entertain and hopefully get visitors to forget about time and space for a little while.
The atmosphere is relaxed, cozy and inviting. The service is personal and friendly and all the adventures Northern Iceland has to offer are on the doorstep. The activities commonly enjoyed by our guests are Northern lights hunting, Whale watching, Beer spa visits, Natural geothermal bath visits and many more.
- Design:
- Hotel Akureyri is built in the golden era of Icelandic architecture. It is commonly referred to as "concrete classics." Taking great influence from Danish and European mainland architecture. The houses are originally built with love, sweat, and tears. We try to maintain a great deal of ambition that went in constructing them with our choice of interior decorations that are meant to make our guest relax, feel at home and breath in the relaxed arctic atmosphere.
- Standout Venue Features:
- We have a vertical hydroponic farm where we grow various plants with methods that use 90% less water than traditional methods.
The space is superbly bright and has tremendous amounts of oxygen flowing through the grow room which has a positive effect on both people and plants - Extra Perks:
- If you stay for three days or more in Akureyri over the winter months, you have an 80% chance of seeing the Northern lights. Ask someone from our team and well help you scout the best spots for hunting the Aurora Borealis.
