Venue Setting

A historic hacienda (plantation) established in 1626 set on 5 hectares of lush tropical gardens, in Morelos, aka "the land of eternal spring". About 20 minutes from Tepoztlán, the hacienda has large bedrooms, a pool, and an ancient aqueduct. It’s one of the last remaining haciendas in Mexico that has not turned into a hotel but is run by the family and staff that have been there for generations. It’s a true peek into traditional Mexico - with outstanding homemade food, detail-oriented hospitality, and deep history.

Inside Scoop

Emiliano Zapata, the Mexican revolutionary - known for his mustache, large hat, and fight to return the land to the people that work it - is the subject of the hacienda's most known legend. According to the stories, he was rescued from a sugar cane plantation where he was found wounded by the hacienda's owner, Ignacio de la Torre. Inconveniently, Ignacio was the son-in-law of then President of Mexico, Porfirio Díaz, who Zapata was fighting against. After nursing him to health, the two men began a torrid romance. Ignacio promised to spare Zapata's life and the revolutionary promised to spare the hacienda. That is why the hacienda remains one of the best preserved, from its original configuration, in Mexico.

Ignacio's sister Susana married Maxence de Polignac, a french nobleman whose grandson would become Prince Rainier III of Monaco and marry Grace Kelley. The reigning prince and the American movie star visited the hacienda in the late XXth century.

Venue Features
The Scene:
The hacienda, established in 1626, stands on a property of about five hectares of gardens divided by a small creek. A stone terrace lies behind a forest and an ancient aqueduct, that hides a fresh swimming pool behind fronds of monsteras.  We give the option of renting the gardens with or without the main house. Depending on your needs.

When renting the entire hacienda, the guests can access all the rooms, patios, terraces, pools, and gardens.
Meals will be prepared for you with previous planning and have a separate cost.

The hacienda comes fully staffed with detail-oriented housekeepers, waiters, and cooks.
Design:
The hacienda has a traditional Spanish design with rooms that open into a common patio and the outdoors. There are several spaces to congregate. Mostly shaded but in the open air. There are 3 dining areas, 4 gardens, 2 patios, and a pool.

Every room has its own bathroom and the layouts are as follows:
- Tabu: King bed, desk, living room
- Uno: Two full beds, couch and coffee table
- Fume Compadre: Two full beds, couch and coffee table
- Que Remedio: Full bed, couch and coffee table
- Sal Si Puedes: King bed, living room
- La Reja: King bed, two twin beds, living room, bath tub
- El Verde: Two twin beds, living room
Standout Venue Features:
Our hacienda has been passed within the same family for centuries. We still use traditional irrigation and gardening systems. The owners and staff have grown up together and for years have hosted people from around the world. The experience of staying here is like a home that is run like a hotel. Where there is no lobby and no other people but the rooms are always made, delicious food abounds, and you have nothing to worry about but enjoying life.

Eats & Drinks
Food, Restaurants, Cafes, Bars & Lounges
Food, Restaurants, Cafes:
Depending on the event, meals will be planned ahead and prepared by our cook. Alicia was born in the town of San Carlos (where the hacienda is located) and has grown up in the hacienda. Along with her sister, Remedios, the hacienda chief of staff. Together, they have seen the hacienda flourish and receive guests from all over the world.

In case you want to host a larger event, like a wedding. We will help you work with a trusted caterer from our list. We work only with the best in Mexico; caterers that will have your guests commenting on the amazing quality of the service for years after.
Bars & Lounges:
You can order all your bar needs from the staff at the hacienda or talk with us about bringing your own alcohol. There are no bars in the vicinity.
