Venue Setting

Hacienda Chuntuac, built in 1620, is one of the oldest and most beautiful haciendas in Yucatán. It is nestled in the lush Cuxtal nature reserve, surrounded by tropical plants and colorful birds, yet only thirty minutes from Merida.

This architectural jewel has been passed through families for generations. With over 400 years of history and the desire to share this special place, we opened our doors in 2022 as a unique event venue and luxury lodging space.

Chuntuac, once a family home, offers restored and luxurious accommodations. We have four airy, high-ceiling bedrooms with air conditioning, a modern, fully equipped kitchen, two refreshing pools, three distinctly different terraces, and two huge gardens featuring massive palms and mature fruit trees.  

 

Our Rafaela Suite features a queen bed and ensuite bathroom for up to two guests. It is warm and sunny, with golden yellow design accents and a panoramic view of the Morsica and Mango Terraces. 

 

The Elvia Suite, with its light and whimsical touches, provides a cozy feeling as soon as you enter. Two queen beds allow space for up to four guests. The ensuite bathroom has a large, tiled walk-in shower drenched in light from the skylight. The oversized hacienda windows open up to a view of the lush Church Garden. 

 

The Catalina Suite has beautiful wooden antique furnishings and accents that make it feel like home. A queen bed and ensuite bathroom accommodate up to two guests. You’ll enjoy relaxing mornings on your private terrace overlooking the Church Garden and brightly colored Chapel. 

 

The primary bedroom, Mariaelena, is bright and spacious, making it the perfect room for “getting ready” for your event day. Mariaelena features the largest walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom in the entire Hacienda. The bathroom has marble and antique stained glass accents. The King Bed allows two guests to have a very comfortable sleep, waking up to a view of the Morsica Terrace. 

 

The property includes excellent Wi-Fi (Starlink), daily breakfast, daily housekeeping, and 24-hour security to ensure a relaxing stay. Don’t forget we are pet friendly!

All our staff members are incredible ans super nice. Gloria makes an amazing tamarindo icee and the fruit (pulp) is endemic, from our tamarindo tree!!

The scene:

Chuntuac offers lodging for up to ten guests between the four lovingly restored modern suites. Multiple covered terraces and natural water pools allow ample spaces to rest and relax with your closest friends and family before and after your wedding day. For the day of your event, choose from the three distinctly different gardens and four terrace areas to create the perfect flow and vision for you and your guests. The gardens are filled with mature fruit trees and massive palms. The Morsica Terrace features photo-worthy original Moorish wooden arches. The brightly colored Chapel, dating back to 1700, offers another historic backdrop for your celebration.

The Mayan word “Chuntuac” translates to ‘beginning’ in English, giving your event an extra special meaning.

Design:
Our original wooden arches on the Morrish Terrace and intimate chapel dating back to the 17th century in the Chapel Garden will amaze your guests with their photo-worthy appearance. The Tamarind Terrace provides an intimate space for gathering under this fairy-tale-like, two hundred years old fruit tree.
Standout venue features:
Located in the Cuxtal Nature Reserve (mayan word Cuxtal, translates to "life" in english), the green and lush surroundings, birdsong, and cool breezes through the trees provide the best backdrop for nature lovers.

Terraza Mango
Terraza Mango. The Mango Terrace, perched above the other spaces, offers a fairy-tale-like view of the many tropical plants, mature trees, and the unmissable flamboyant that greets you at the entrance. It features two natural water pools and a large stone patio for your event. A deep redcolored stone structure in the form of an altar is a nod to the past. Terraza Tamarindo.
The mature tamarind tree at the Tamarind Terrace is impressive for its size, shade, and delicious seasonal tamarind pods. The tree and whimsical oversized birdcage add personality, making it feel like a natural gathering place. Located down the steps of the Moorish Terrace and adjacent to the Goose Garden, you are surrounded by spectacular vegetation. Imagine an intimate semi-circle ceremony around the terrace or sipping cocktails while twinkling lights dangle from its branches.

Terraza Casa Principal
If you are enjoying the weekend at Chuntuac with your friends and family, the Casa Principal Terrace is your openair living space towards the back of the house. It is completely covered to protect you from the sun and has ceiling fans to keep you cool. But this space can also be utilized for your event and has a spectacular view overlooking the Chapel Garden and Church. This space can be utilized for cocktails or dinner for smaller groups
