The Firle Estate sits in the heart of the South Downs National Park and just 60 miles from the centre of London.
Firle Place is an outstanding privately owned country house in Sussex that dates from the time of Henry VIII but was substantially remodelled in the 18th Century.
Firle Place contains one of the most significant and historic private collections of old master paintings, furniture and porcelain in Southern England and the only place in the country where a section of the celebrated Cowper collection may be viewed.
When Firle was converted to a Georgian house, it was gradually filled with an accumulation of works of art from Highmeadow in Gloucestershire, and the family London townhouse at 16 Arlington Street.
Incorporating several villages and farms spread over rolling hills, Firle is a thriving rural community set in one of the most picturesque parts of the United Kingdom.
The house, gardens and notable collection of works of art and porcelain are of national importance and will ensure a day to remember.
Central to the atmosphere of Firle is a diverse and culturally rich community with many artists, craftsmen and local businesses.
As well as magnificent walks, bike rides and country pursuits, the Estate contains many places to stay, eat and drink.
As the house stands today, the mansion is arranged around two courtyards, separated by the hall range, aligned approximately east-west with the long axis of the hall range situated north-south, under the lee of the Downs.
The private gardens surrounding Firle Place cover nearly 300 acres, 190 of which are parkland and are maintained by a team of full-time gardeners.
The Georgian Riding School is a Grade 2* listed building located in the private grounds of Firle Place, which can comfortably seat up to 300 guests, with the average wedding party between 120-150 guests.
Enjoy your special day in a luxury marquee, arabian tent or yurt, set in the extensive and beautifully maintained grounds and parkland with the stately home of Firle Place as a stunning backdrop.
The private walled garden produces fruits and flowers for the house and holds a very interesting specimen; one of the original greengage trees, introduced to the British Isles by the Gage family in 1724.
