If you're planning one of the most important days of your life and feel you want something more than the usual church, registry office or overblown hotel then inspiration can be hard to find. We're the closest you can get to an outside wedding in the UK. If you're dreaming of a woodland wedding, green wedding, wedding by water or perhaps a camping wedding then you've come to the right place. Our wood, willow and canvas Pavilion isn't on a manicured lawn but really outdoors; by a clear brook & under a canopy of oak and ash. Declaring your love in front of family and friends is big stuff; whether you choose an old fashioned wedding or modern civil partnership is up to you - we can make it natural or funky, eco-chic or country.

You might be drawn to a vision of a fairy glade; where you exchange your vows by woodland and stream before musicians on fiddle and flute play you past banks of foxglove and wild rose. Children clutching posies skip alongside as you walk hand in hand to a tented space filled with food and flowers. Later candles in paper lanterns and tiny lights shine softly across the music and dancing - long after little ones are tucked up in their tipis.

You could be stirred by the rise of the eco-wedding; thinking green and sustainably from the beginning, you want to arrange ceremony and reception close to one another to reduce miles travelled, low impact accommodation for everyone to stay in, local suppliers of seasonal food and drink, in fact everything as low carbon and earth friendly as it can be.

Or go bold Bollywood; styled in hot pinks, saffron and red, with low seating and glittering saris, or English country house; afternoon tea served on vintage china under swags of retro bunting. Maybe use the pure waters of our lake to float coloured night lights in your own private Festival of Light. Choose to set dress it all for glamour or lazy days. Our beautiful valley and woods are perfect for Alice & Mad Hatter tea parties, Enid Blyton style adventures or just simple bbq's and woodland picnics - celebrations as easy or detailed as you please. Venue Features
The Scene:
The venue is unique. A secret 20 acre woodland valley clothed in ferns, bluebells & ancient oaks, folded around a clear, spring-fed lake created from the old Tregildrans Quarry. Undisturbed by modern agrochemicals and herbicides the natural ecosystem has flourished, providing a thriving habitat for flowers and butterflies, birds and mammals.

Walk down a light dappled path past mossy Sherwood trunks, through a little meadow of tipis then over a stream & down to our ceremony pavilion created from wood, willow & canvas. It’s bordered on 2 sides by the stream & under a great ash tree. There’s daisies and buttercups, pink campions, meadowsweet and white lace rounds of cow parsley. Hazel, willow and oak are watched by the elder, guardian of the woods. Giant ferns and hart’s tongue give a feel of another time, another place. Wander across the stream over little wooden bridges to a wooded dingly dell, brilliant blue with bells in April/May and a palette of greens the rest of the season. This is where we can hang Chinese lanterns & bunting for really pretty after ceremony shots, or guests can just come & sit on little benches dotted about.

But it's when you go down to the lake that you can really let your imagination run riot – here is the location for bridal pictures that most bridal couples and photographers can only dream of – bride & groom together on the jetty, brave bride on a floating pontoon, manly groom rowing the bride (we love our bride in a boat shots), or bride and bride side by side.

You can also think about using the lake as part of your celebration – a pagan handfasting by water, or your own  Festival of Light with floating candles & flowers released at dusk...
Standout Venue Features:
Clear blue one minute and shifting greens the next, Tregildrans Quarry lake is a real Swallows & Amazons experience. You can swim and bathe in the water, fish for rainbow trout, use the boats and canoes to row and muck about, or just sit and watch the swallows and dragonflies dipping the water.
Extra Perks:
One thing worth pointing out here is that we do always make provision for anyone with mobility issues (or just really high Jimmy Choos) & provide a car & a driver to take them to and from the relevant areas according to your wedding timetable.
