Venue Setting

Carroll Hall is a rare and unexpected event space featuring a botanic garden in Brooklyn. We welcome all types of private events, from weddings, baby showers, bridal showers, and birthday parties to art exhibits, performances, corporate functions, fundraisers and film shoots.

The space encompasses a total of 10,000 square feet, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor areas. For indoor events, we have an open warehouse space, a skylit indoor catering room, and a private mezzanine lounge. Ultimately, the garden is the heart of our space, created as a quiet retreat among plants, birds, insects, and urban wildlife. Tucked in the back of our garden is a discreet wooden "treehouse", perfect for a quiet moment during any event.

Carroll Hall and Dameron Architecture were awarded the 2022 AIA New York Design Award Citation for Reclaiming Urban Space. Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in our very foundation, which uses original bricks and existing ceramic brick walls from the prior warehouse structure, and most of the interior wood is reclaimed.

Our Spaces
● The Garden - A vibrant mix of perennials with flowering interest throughout the growing seasons embrace two connected courtyards. Reclaimed water from the site is stored in a large underground tank and used to irrigate the garden. Accommodates up to 130 floating/100 seated. ADA accessible.

● The Warehouse - Our sun-drenched Warehouse boasts 25’ tall ceilings with skylights, an elevated DJ booth, custom cedar walls, an 8x8 pivot door leading out to the gardens, restrooms, and a private mezzanine lounge with a balcony. Accommodates up to 95 standing/65 seated at dining tables. ADA accessible (excluding DJ booth and mezzanine lounge/balcony).

● The Treehouse - Our discreet wooden "treehouse" is available as an add-on for any rental package. This space has a large window that opens onto the garden, and another that reveals a secret miniature garden. Accommodates up to 6. Limited access — not ADA accessible. (Premium Space) 

● Rose’s Room - A bright, airy private dining and catering area with a wall that opens to the garden. The kitchen prep area includes a sink, large commercial fridge, non-commercial dishwasher, countertops for food prep, and an ice machine. Accommodates up to 15. ADA accessible.

● Mosaic Corridor - Our floor-to-ceiling mosaic installation by Cristina Salas captivates visitors of all ages. ADA accessible.

● Mezzanine Lounge - This indoor private lounge overlooks the warehouse and offers seating for 3-4 people and a birds-eye view of the garden. Limited access. (Premium Space)

Bar Packages

All beverage service to be exclusively provided by Carroll Hall. Beverage packages are an additional fee and are subject to New York State tax. Cash bars are not permitted on premises, open bars only. Bar packages include beverages, ice, mixers, bar staff, and glassware in the rate.

Premium Spaces

The Mezzanine Lounge and Treehouse are private spaces within Carroll Hall that can be reserved for an addtional fee.

Design:
We love the city but really need more time in nature. We assume most New Yorkers would agree. Discovery, wonder, and the unexpected are important to us and are strongly represented in the garden and spaces. The plants are an idealized woodland, dressed-up cousins of what might have grown along the edges of fields and farms past. Birds, bees and butterflies are invited back. The buildings “breathe” with automated natural ventilation. Fountains and water features collect and recycle
stormwater for irrigation. A decade of design and construction led to a complex and interwoven series of architectural ideas that coalesced into a rare and unexpected nature retreat in New York City.

Carroll Hall is at the forefront of several sustainable practices in NYC, including rainwater reuse and technological innovations in natural ventilation. Beneath the inclined end of the 13,000 sq ft site, a sub-ground building houses a 5000 gallon water tank that collects and filters water run-off for garden irrigation.
