If a trip to the land down under is something you’ve always wanted to do for a birthday extravaganza, we’ve got just the place for you. High up on a rooftop in Australia’s most liveable city, sits an urban glamping paradise that’s a must-stay during your Melbourne adventure. St. Jerome’s – The Hotel is located in the heart of Melbourne’s Central Business District, making it prime real estate for city views and exploring the lively, art-filled downtown area. Camping? Nah, not really. Luxury camping on a rooftop? Yep, that’s more b-day worthy.

The Digs: The Opposite of Roughing It
Camping without beds, toilets and showers isn’t for everyone. If you’re interested but hesitant, we can totally understand why. Instead of roughing it out in the wild on your birthday, St. Jerome’s has your back. Here, there are toilets and showers (and cozy robes), and you’ll be sleeping on a plush and cozy mattress with gorgeous linens too. Also, there’s A/C in the warm months. Best of all? You don’t even have to bring your own ice chest. St. Jerome’s provides an “Esky” filled with beers, ciders and water in every tent booking. You said it was your birthday, right?

The Scene: Urban Rooftop Paradise
There’s a collection of bell tents up here, 21 to be precise. There’s also a general store where you can restock on beers and whatever you may have forgotten to bring along. Stars and skyline are yours for the night and when you wake on your birthday morning, you’ll be delighted to find freshly made coffee and tea, breakfast burritos, fruit and yogurt right at your tent opening.

The Area: City, City, City
After you’ve fueled up for the morning, head to street level to check out Melbourne’s cool graffiti-clad alleyways, café culture and fabulous museums. Maybe you’ll wander to the botanical gardens or the National Gallery Museum, or maybe you’ll find your way to Melbourne’s famous Queen Victoria Market. Whatever birthday bucket list worthy adventure you choose, be sure to make it back to your tent to watch the sunset. This city does sunsets well and you’ll have the perfect perch to watch.
