Been hankering to visit The Hague? This new boutique hotel located between the city and the sea is reason enough to book the trip. Hotel Pistache is a charming, playful and affordable take on an upscale but comfy designer hotel. No stuffy lobby, exorbitantly priced restaurant or snobby airs—just a welcoming 9-suite haven for settling in at the end of a long day of exploring. With Matisse-meets-Picasso-inspired illustrations and branding throughout, you’ll be tempted to take cues from the oh-so-cute pillows and walls and bring some lighthearted design ideas back home.
For Down-To-Earth Design Lovers
Brought to life by two interior design lovers and former colleagues, Pistache is the offspring of two true visual talents. With a keen eye for details, complementary color palettes and warm, inviting furnishings, each unique suite offers a slightly different take on what quiet sophistication looks like. Whether it’s a rose-toned couch, an elegant line drawing edging on the abstract or a modern brass lamp, each room comes together with clean lines and cool hues. Everything down to the hotel insignia embroidered on the pillows indicates a love for subtle particulars—in fact, you may feel rather like you’ve arrived on-set a Wes Anderson film (in the best way possible) with the careful décor and well-chosen pops of color.

Make Yourself at Home
These apartment-like suites which nearly all have built-in kitchenettes are perfect for the discerning independent traveler who wants a bit more flexibility—the businesswoman, the young family with children or the lovers who simply want to prepare their own lunch a day or two. The kitchens themselves are sleek, clean and streamlined units that match the space perfectly. While leaving meals up to you if you so choose, food is also available at Pistache. Order breakfast to your room and you’ll get a divine mix of healthy and delicious—a little granola and fresh juice here, a little croissant and jam there. We call it the perfect compromise.

Forget the Conference Calls
Another of Pistache’s perks is the meeting suite, complete with kitchen and large dining table that can be rented for meetings, creative conferences or private dinners. Though on the smaller end (only appropriate for up to 15 people), this homey space beats a drear conference room any day. With a private entrance, catering possibilities and remarkably cheery environment, this flexible space really couldn’t be more convenient.

Getting to Know The Hague
Oh, and for those still jogging your memory as to where The Hague even is, just picture directly southwest of Amsterdam, along the coast of The Netherlands—a very long stone’s throw across the North Sea from Cambridge, England. What’s there to do here? Well, Hotel Pistache is an ideal hub from which to explore: just outside the hotel is a tram that will take you either to The Hague Central Station, or in the other direction to a nearby beach. Visit countless museums, parliamentary buildings, palaces, gardens and parks. If you want to stick a little closer to your hotel home, just across the street is a beautiful yoga studio called Delight Yoga—the ideal way to start your day.
