While spending your birthday at your local pub may sound like fun at first consideration, we assure you there’s more fun to be had outside the traditional English drinking hub. Instead, grab a handful of your buddies and head out to the remote north coast of Cornwall and make your way through the woodlands to spend your special day at a cabin in the woods. You will find a hideaway there that’s waterfall-powered and unlike anywhere else you’ve spent a birthday weekend with friends.

Hint: It’s Not Really A Pub
While the Danish beer company Carlsberg commissioned this spot, the cozy cabin isn’t so much a pub as a six-bed hideaway in the woods. There are trees growing through the deck and the walls roll right up to let fresh air inside, but there’s no official bartender lingering around. So, in case we got your attention with the mention of a pub, we should probably clarify that this place comes fully stocked with Carlsberg Expørt DraughtMaster beer that’s pumped via a turbine, ready for you and your buddies to self-serve and consume.
Part of a Larger Glamping Hub
Tucked away in the willow groves and wildflowers about a mile inland from Trebarwith Strand Beach, the cabin is part of glamping basecamp Kudhva. It’s here that you’ll find a totally immersive experience in the Cornish landscape, with that feeling of being completely disconnected and off the grid. There’s a shared kitchen and shared showers at the main site, and you and your friends can spread out across six beds in the cabin for the ultimate b-day slumber party out in the wild.
The Backstory
The cabin was hand-built by a group of six strangers as part of a Carlsberg social media mini series. They built the space in just five days’ time, and the whole process is documented online here. So, if you make it to the cabin for your own little hygge-filled birthday getaway, we encourage you to imagine what your crew of six could achieve in less than a week’s time.
