After our grand tour of South America, photographer Marianna Jamadi and I needed another girl’s getaway. We wanted to go closer to home, yet far enough away to become entrenched in the Latin culture we both hold dear. Meeting in the middle – with myself coming from the East Coast and Marianna coming from the West Coast – we continued our journey in Cabo San Lucas, a Mexican cultural hub attracting plenty of American visitors each year and a locale with an enticing, mountainous coastline, perfect for our adventurous souls.

While here, we celebrated a life in contrast, as our nomadic lifestyles lend to our conscious pursuit of balance, a goal we both find integral and necessary to our shared creative processes. In Cabo, this task proved effortless as we reveled in luxurious accommodations at Grand Solmar by night, with our days spent exploring the city and coast, an area full of continuous wonder. Whether by boat or by foot, we reveled in the Cabo scenery, letting the fresh sea air fill our lungs and souls with visions of a new journey ahead.
While at Grand Solmar, we experienced contemporary luxury at its finest. The coastal, laid-back essence of the rooms provided constant relaxation, a true, peaceful retreat filled with stunning ocean views and a suite so glamourous we could barely motivate ourselves to leave. Although we found solace in our own private oases, we found our inspiration while exploring the hotel grounds: Stark white stucco walls juxtaposed with towering, spiky cacti and multi-colored pebbles lined the glowing, sandy pathways, creating the ideal scenery to relax and explore our home away from home by the sea.
As we walked down the coast, we discovered a quiet cove, set near the iconic Arch of Cabo San Lucas. Ditching our sandals, we climbed up the craggy rocks, peering out for an unobstructed view of the Baja California coast. Once a peaceful fishing village, it was easy to see the history of days’ past in this now blossoming town. With white sands beneath our feet, we reveled in the solitude of our quiet, unmapped nook along the coast, subconsciously planning our next escapade while savoring the present journey.
