When your Mom’s turning 60 and it’s time for the ultimate mother-daughter celebration outside of the states but not off of the continent, where do you go? Channel your inner Frida and hop a plane to Mexico City to explore the historic and buzzing town filled with art and culture from your home base in the chic and spirited neighborhood of Condesa.
Perched on a corner in a 1928 French neoclassical building overlooking the lush Parque España sits the equally charming and fresh Hotel Condesa DF.

The Scene
Upon entry you’ll be greeted with either aguas frescas or tequila and lime (depending on the time of day), and the hotel's signature bright teal color somehow makes even the palest guest look bronzed. Inspired by monastic bedrooms, Parisian designer, India Mahdavi, blends contemporary with comfort and minimalism with color to create a bright, airy and tranquil retreat in the middle of Mexico City.
The bold floral theme that's presented throughout the hotel from the upholstery to the chopstick wrappers ties in perfectly with the modern and simplistic bedding, acrylic furniture, and white walls. Everything in the hotel revolves around the triangular central courtyard where you can dine al fresco under the vines or head up to the rooftop terrace above the trees to join the posh crowd that gathers every night just before sunset to enjoy cocktails and sushi. On a sunny day, pop up to the terrace to get an open air workout in, enjoy the sauna, soak in the spa jacuzzi, or tan with rosé in hand on the day beds.
Around Town
Although it’s tempting to never leave the calm and colorful hideaway that is Condesa DF, the surrounding neighborhood is equally as engaging. The tree-lined avenues are brimming with hip cafes, boutiques, and bars. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself barely making it a single block without stopping into another shop to try on clothes from the latest collections of contemporary Mexican designers or sip just one more café con leche from a local brewer.
The Story
The hotel, which features 40 rooms and suites, is part of the diverse Grupo Habita collection by Carlos Couturier and Moisés Micha who left their day jobs to start careers in Boutique Hospitality. With a passion for building hotels that reflect their surroundings, the partners stick to local teams each time they build a new property ensuring that they are creating a true portrayal of the local traditions and cultures and ultimately a honest sense of place.
A Gathering Spot Like No Other
The vibrant and versatile hotel would serve as a great fit for birthdays, wedding dinners or receptions, corporate events and/or retreats, couples getaways, anniversary/engagement parties, bachelorette parties, and workshops.
