Our first official Venue Report, has got to be a report on The Grand Del Mar.  This venue is so outstanding that it's no secretive event venue, BUT it is incredible and holds a special place in our hearts. We styled our first ever The Venue Reportphoto shoot with Jose Villa behind the lens for Rue Magazineat this very venue. The Grand Del Mar, a luxury San Diego golf and spa resort, is comprised of 249 guestrooms and suites, each with its own stunning view of either The Grand Golf Club or Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve. Reminiscent of a Mediterranean estate and nestled in the storybook setting of the breathtaking Los Peñasquitos Canyon.

The Scoop

There are 32 venue spaces including a romantic chapel, courtyards, private dining rooms, wine cellars, landscaped gardens and our favorite...  the spectacular Tennis Pavilion. Ceremonies at The Grand Del Mar include an array of complimentary features, including a fully-integrated sound system with wireless microphone and AV technician; bridal party changing room and groomsmen finishing room; sparkling, still and fruit-infused water service; ceremony chairs for outdoor lawns; use of the Baby Grand piano during Capella weddings; and complimentary wedding night accommodations for the bride and groom. For your reception, the The Grand Del Mar provides floor-length gold tablecloths with ecru overlays, polished Hepp silverware, Villeroy & Boch china and Schott Zwiesel glassware.

You and your ladies can rendevous at the Spa at The Grand Del Mar, ideal for bridal parties. They have a full-service salon that also offers makeup, nail and hair services for the bridal party. What about the groom?! They haven't skipped a beat, bc they provide shaving for the groom and groomsmen as well.  Special packages for private bachelorette parties are also available.

You can also play a pre-wedding round at The Grand Golf Club — San Diego’s only Tom Fazio-designed championship golf course. Dramatic elevations, diverse bunkering and lush fairways provide the perfect way to bond with in-laws or stay loose with the groomsmen. Special packages are available.

Don't worry about trying to source a cake vendor because The Grand Del Mar has an incredible, creative on-site pastry team that will create an edible masterpiece for your event. While we are on the subject of food, we must reveal that we have eaten many meals at this venue. Their food is outstanding! Sip, savor and enjoy because they have an acclaimed culinary team that offers a menu chock full of locally sourced ingredients.  From tea sandwiches for a shower on the tennis courts to a five-course plated dinner staged under the setting sun, they have you covered. The typical gross rubbery steaks and chicken will not appear at this venue!
