Known for being a place of community + gathering, The LINE Hotel welcomes travelers and neighbors alike to their “haven for creative expression” in Koreatown, Los Angeles. This summer, The LINE hosted a dinner series, aptly named “Dinner with Strangers,” that gathered influencers from all corners of the creative industry to share a meal and conversation.
The goal: to bring big thinkers together to dine and ideate on what makes a space great. The “Dinner with Strangers” series not only encouraged strangers to become friends, but also enabled a dialogue for the hotel’s team to learn more about how influencers view communal spaces, including hotels and restaurants, what qualities make a gathering space great and also what features make someone want to stay in one venue over another. The diners agreed, ambiance and emotional connection play a big role in deciding on where to stay and play.

The conversation took place over a meal by Roy Choi, acclaimed chef and visionary at The LINE’s Commissary restaurant, a communal-themed concept with a focus on vegetable-forward cuisine (did we mention the restaurant is nestled inside a lush urban greenhouse?!). Starters for the strangers included avocado toast sprinkled with goat cheese, chilies and cured salmon. Chicken dumplings filled with leeks, matzo, himeji mushrooms made for a strong second course. Dinner concluded with tres leches caramel ganache cake with créme fraiche ice cream berries and a milk crunch.
Keeping with the hotel’s vision for community + gathering, the hotel staff used the learnings from the event to shape the future of events at The LINE. From creative spaces to functional features, the hotel team incorporated the takeaways and feedback from their dinner series to make their venue a reflection of the community. Whether it’s the way spaces flow, the experiential restaurants onsite or amenities that influence the overall stay, the little things count, and involving the community to share insights can make a great place shine a little more.
Experience the vibrant community and aesthetic at The LINE for yourself. From corporate events to holiday parties and pool parties, there’s a space for everyone to gather.
