Into the Wild, Wild Desert
Hoanib Valley Camp is nestled in the Kaokoland in northwestern Namibia. Surrounded by sand dunes, mountain peaks and vast expanses of desert landscape, here you’ll find absolute peace and quiet. If it’s stars you’re after, the lack of light pollution is sure to grant you constellation gazing on your birthday. If it’s nature walks you’re interested in, take a tour along the banks of the Obias River or the Hoanib River to spot wildlife.
Your Desert Digs
This safari camp is home to six luxurious tents. The whole camp is run on solar power and is entirely clean and green, yet has the feel of a luxury abode with beautiful local textiles and sophisticated décor. Food and drinks are all part of the package, making your birthday planning easy-peasy.
Local Culture, Tribes and Wildlife
Home to the Himba tribe, this remote part of the world is known for producing beautiful baskets, chairs and tables, some of which you’ll spot during your stay at Hoanib Valley Camp. You can organize a trip to visit the tribe’s people in their villages, or opt to spend all your time soaking up the safari expedition opportunities. Elephant herds, elusive desert lions, zebras, kudu, klipspringers, springboks, oryx, and rare black rhinos are likely to be spotted in this terrain, and you’ll have front-row seating to fulfill your wildest birthday dreams. Oh, and just nearby is a Giraffe Conservation Foundation where you can learn about giraffes from Africa’s foremost giraffe expert. If that’s not a birthday treat, we don’t know what is!
